West side Hyak Gold Creek Road washed out

That whole road was under water at 8 when I was came by . The floodig has started to fill the lake . A lot of the snow has melted

We rode from the Kachess side yesterday and the groomer was just starting his first day. From what we saw he went from the lake side and did a full groom to about halfway down to the Gold Creek Snowpark. Coverage was good on the roads and almost ok off. Can't wait too see it after next week.

Wow February, nothing like making a mountain out of a mole hill. It is a good thing all state and federal employees get paid by the hour or they would all starve

So.... The money we spend on our snowmobile tabs and sno parks permits is hard at work??
They should be making sure all of our sno-parks are open, and grooming is completed as scheduled ..price creek is as easy as it gets as far as access, limited expenses to keep open..etc.. What am I missing?? Last years budget should be sitting waiting to be spent:)
im confused... Collect our money for such services, yet, sno parks close. In that area alone, we go from 4 sno parks to 2???( no hyak, or price creek)..
Am I out of line here???

Must be a way around as we saw plenty of rigs in the parking area.
Any updates?

My buddy went up last weekend, said the turn around had about 3-4 feet of snow so if you have a trailer you might want to park at the entrance and ride in. He also said they road around the bridge on shoulder of i-90. its a huge shoulder for chaining up so it wasn't that sketchy.

The road is only plowed wide enough for one lane. The turn around is tiny. Taking a trailer down the road is a horrible idea and literally there is a spot for maybe 3 trucks at their piss poor turn around. A horrible place to try and go if you are not the early bird. You DO NOT want to drive a trailer down the road. The road should be chains or studs required seriously... I am attaching a picture of driving out of their tonight.

Thanks man for the detailed update.
Hope you made it home with the pass closed.

I have a sled deck & lifted truck, but it clearly looks too tight in there - and parking would be messy until they get the road cleared.

I hate to sound like my mom, but I hope they have a plan to keep people safe here. We road a 4 foot tall sculpted snow path wrapped around the guard rail on I90 today to get around the bridge. On the way out some dumbass on a quad got it all f'd up and we opted to cut a second ramp (someone had already cut one) with access to the chain up area on I90.

I suppose it doesn't sound half as dumb as the people with their kids and saucer sleds parking and running across the west bound I90 on ramp to sled the bank!!!

We have been riding that berm all year. I saw the kids on the 4 wheeler and was quit annoyed. The 4 wheeler collapsed part of that berm. I am pretty sure that isn't even legal to have a 4 wheeler down the snowmobile trail this time of year? As for all the people parking at the entrance of Gold Creek, I complained to WSP and they said it isn't their deal. It's Forestry to enforce the parking. They could easily go generate $5000 by writing tickets. I would say 3 out of 4 cars I saw parked had no discovery park pass or sno-park permit. So annoying they don't enforce simple things like this that would in turn generate revenue.

Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this am but WA is, aside from IL, THE MOST fudged up state I've lived in by far!
This Gold Creek bridge is just one minute tiny example......
Regarding the Sno park passes, seen cars and trucks parked at Greenwater without them last week, idiots screwing up the Matterhorn, quads bombing around the snomachine lot and up the trail a bit, cars and trucks getting stuck in front of me when I'm coming in loaded with a big trailer, etc. Ok that's the white trash citizens, not the govt, but I digress. Although some cinders would go a long way on the Matterhorn.......seems easy enough?

Couple years ago, got a ticket within 10 min leaving the Stampede lot. Buddy offered to drive and we forgot a Sno park pass. Between us, we had 4 or 5 valid Sno park and discovery passes, just not in that particular truck. Our fault, I know, but we stopped and watched the fish cop as we left the lot, he waited till we were gone to write the ticket, after driving by us while unloading! What a puss!
Now I'll concentrate on the last 6 mo since I moved back from AK.
The ?!);/!/ ing WSDOT, now let's see. 405 toll debacle. Nuff said!
I'm in road construction. Had a project this summer, small job, couple mil, and 30 working day schedule. Too many outlandish stories to write here, but here's the highlights.
Wsdot didn't permit enough right of way, which I figured out was to save them from having to get a npdes, 404, storm water permit. Then would penalize us, the contractor for getting outside the ROW. They designed the job bigger than the ROW limits! And in an attempt to cover up the problem, ended up with, IMO a sub standard design and product based on thes ridiculous limitations.
Fast fwd to the end of the job, should have been about 6 weeks total duration. Their design issues caused Dept of Ecology storm water issues that they played off on the contractor. They delayed the completion of the project about 3 months due to their design issues and not only have we not collected additional $due, they are withholding payment on satisfactory work complete and up until last week were charging US liquidated damages for not completing on time! I couldn't make this stuff up, it's so out there. Almost criminal. More blatant ineptitude on WSDOTs part than I've seen in the last 5 projects I've built put together.
Now let's talk roads and bridges in general. You all know how far behind the state is on roadwork. It's evident every day you sit in ridiculous traffic backups no matter where you're going. Was beginning to think this is normal until I went back to Denver for Xmas. Having lived in CO a couple times over the last 15 years, I was astounded to see how much the main roads, freeways, arterials have improved to keep up with the population growth just in the 4 years since I've lived there last. It was awesome! Plus CDOT makes their roads and bridges look nice, not the typical ugly crap Wsdot puts out. When they actually improve a road or interchange, which isn't often.
I know I'm talking 2 different geographical locations, but the 2 states are very similar in lots of ways, size of metropolitan areas, expanse of rural and mountain areas, tax base (personal and corporate) and quick numbers, CO knows how to tax its residents and businesses, but still not as much as WA, IMO.
There is no doubt in my mind that the vast majority of state money gets pissed away in beaucracy. Don't hold your breath that our simple road to Gold Creek can get fixed with any sort of efficiency!

The new FS Ranger was at the Groomer Mtg Monday......This is on their fast track....Hoping for completion by the 1st week of FEB......Yes, that is really fast for a Federal Gov't agency when you consider getting in a Bridge Engineer, EIS, Bids, etc..............

No, it's BS and it's not on their fast track.
The company I work for was called upon for the permanent Skagit River bridge repairs and the emergency 410/White River repairs. They can fix stuff quick if the demand is there, but some snowmachiners accessing a trail system is not a priority. Unfortunately for us!

Anybody got any Gold Creek updates?

Been going to Crystal Springs but have been noticing rigs parked at the GC sno-park.
