Were to sled in Winter Park

We have never went snowmibiling in colorado and we were thinking of staying in winter park for the other part of the group to ski. I was woundering were the best place to go sledding is and i would like it to be close? We like to mountain climb and deep pow. Need help.

Thanks

Sry not to sure on Winter Park but there is a trail system there. But a town by the name of Grand Lake, only about 45 mins frome WP, has a great trail system, great hills (gravel mt is the best), powder can be found if you look.
Call a dealer of rental place up in winter park they may know more.

winter park

As you are coming from the west on hwy 40 you will see a big sign on the right advertising for Lakota homes. This is before you get to winter park. go into that drive and take a right. Follow the road until you come to where you have to either turn right or left. Take the left and follow the road to where there is vehicle parking. There is a great trail system in there and you can go up to the summit. At the summit you can follow another guided trail where there is a bowl with some good climbing. The open areas are a little hard to find unless you like riding through the trees. Hope this helps. The nice thing about WP is it's not overused.

grand adventures. bottom of that trail system. just on the right as you enter town. they have a website.

What do you mean not much for a beginner? There's tons of trails, lots of open meadows if you look for them, and about the easiest place to ride above treeline I've been to.

I think it's a perfect place for intermediate riders, fun stuff, but not too comitting.

GL is trail heaven if you're into that kinda thing, and if you talk to Grand adventures they'll let you trailer a sled to where you want to ride, they have 600's in GL that are worth picking up, but only 550fan's in WP.

The trails outside fraser are ok, but you mentioned you want to climb, Church park is flatter than your 10 yr old sister. Even a beginner can get bored there, I had a bro head there with his wife a few weeks ago, she said she was bored in an hour.

Depending on rider level, there are many other locations to play around there, but some are a bit less friendly than corona, GL or church park

When will you be out here? There will be a couple of us up at corona this weekend I think. But if you are here at a later date then look one of us up, I know im always down to ride.

We usually ride in the snowys at centennial. So is there anything that will compare to the type of hill climbing at Grand Lake or is mainly trail? I think we are coming out the second week of march.

There is Gravel Mt and Super Chicken, right by Gravel. both of these are big and steep. Gravel is on the trail so it is marked a lot but not many make it to the top. Super is off the trail so not many go to it and even fewer make it to the top. Both have had slid so bring you avalanche gear just to be safe.
