Went to the track

Pretty slick tonight. Couldn't match the 12.4s of last week but it ran a few 12.6s@110.98-11.60. With 2wd I can't leave with any boost so it's really soft out of the hole. It's a balancing act with the throttle until it shifts into 3rd to keep it from breaking loose and going up in tire smoke. It spun in this vid when it shifted into 2nd so I got out of it but it's too late by then. With 4wd and boosted launches it would run 12 flat pretty easy I think.

Smoke ain't power either. If you match your fuel with the right turbo, they don't smoke.

Removed it and put in a straight axle and a 2wd 47RH. Knocked about 600lbs of the rolling weight. I don't offroad or even drive it in the winter for that matter. It's a Friday night cruisemobile. I rarely take it to the track and the extra weight and permanent engaged hubs is a speed hinderance on the street. I'll get a set of slicks and caltracs for track days next year.

no 4wd, that poor truck.lol. I keep adding weight to mine.

is that on #2 only, no drugs? thats got to be the only truck i have seen in the 12s with no smoke!!!!
No drugs just F1 Diesel injectors... I have a brand new in the box NX Progressive system sitting in the basement. Just never hooked it up because the truck is already traction limited.

That's pretty clean looking truck. Who's twins? What's your setup? What's it run?
 
no times or dyno runs yet. plan on sled pulling with it this next year. setup is:

texas diesel works/mark kendrick twins
gds s300 62/12 over an s400 74mm
modified jammer 5s(getting replaced soon with some f1s)
fass 150/150
city diesel cool twist intercooler(new version)
arp studs, oringed,ported head head
quadzilla adrenaline to replace drag comp
smarty(not for long)

I want to get some injectors that can show 700 plus horsepower on the dyno.Got to give them duramaxes a whoopin!
 
I Have yet to drive a truck with a very large turbo like a 66. So its still kinda hard for me to compare...but, if you run the amount of fuel you are, they should spool fairly quick...I just like the power band of twins overall. you can feel it when the big one lights.The only thing that Iam going to change with my setup is add an external gate.If I could push some of my drive pressure off to the bottom turbo I would be golden.The 62/12 works good overall for the secondary but a 64/14 over an s-480 would be the ticket nowadays.Btw what was your Drag comp set on during that run. very impressive the way it cleared that smoke
 
Btw no I dont Like the quad stuff, I just jumped on the bandwagon for something different.With as many drag comps Ive went through I gave up there.Even though it worked awesome. I really wanted to buy blue chip stuff but, Iam ballin on a budget.lol
 
5x5... I run it 3x5 daily and can drive with no smoke. If I nailed it with no boost it will block the sun out for a city block. I guess you learn how to just roll into it. It's quicker if you don't put the fire out by drowning it.

How do the twins come on? Mine comes on like 1...2...3...5...10...50. Takes a couple secs but then hits like a ton of bricks. What caused it to spin in that vid when it went from 10-50 in a split second. I've heard twins come on slower and smoother.
 
mine comes on the same way.from a slow rolling start they start spooling at about 1,400rpms, by about 1,700 rpms...hold on. Waste gate settings will change it, and I know plenty of people have there own Preferences on how to gate and how quick they want the bottom turbo to come on.I just want my boost as quick as I can get it.If you asked 20 people what they set the boost at on the top turbo, you would have a handful of answers.Best off to play with it and see what works for your setup.
