Well Just Bought A New Bow!!!!

So I should trade up my antique Darton Lightning that is extremely accurate and lethal, not anytime soon. But those short limbs do look nice. Just as soon as this one misses a P&Y, it will be hanging on the wall.:D

Wouldn't you rather not miss the P&Y Buck or Bull??:D

Just yankin your chain. It all comes down to if your happy with what your shooting then stick with it.

I was just saying that if you haven't had the opportunity or set out to check the new stuff out then you should really try it out. I used to shoot a PSE (parts shooting everywhere) Babby G-force which shot nice but was a nightmare to keep tuned. I bought my then Bowtech defender and thought I'd keep the Babby G around for a backup until I shot it once after a good tune up and after shooting my defender for a couple weeks. It was on E-bay the next day.

Some others for you guys to check out would be Elite Archery and on the lower price point stuff the Diamonds and the Gander mountain Guide series bows are real nice, by the way the guide series is made by Diamond/Bowtech. The new Fred Bear Truth 2 is actually pretty sweet too.

I am still shooting my 7 year old Fred Bear CODE. I like the new ones, but not enough to want to switch yet. I am more impressed with the improvements in carbon arrows. I always shot aluminum arrows and said I would never shoot carbons. The improvements that were made with carbon arrows finally made me switch. I have been shooting them for about a 1 1/2 and with them it is like shooting a new bow. Another few years, I will probably be ready for a new bow. :beer;

I'm yankin a Ross 334 right now... I love this bow... the price was excellent and the draw cycle is as smooth as anything out there... I shot a gaurdian and if i had the cash that's what i'd get... bowtech is makin some fine bows these days... rumor has it that they are buying up Ross... I'll be a happy camper!!!

Yes this is true.. bowtech has bought the name and the manufactering rights for ross archery.. no word yet on if ross is still going to design products or not

ya, i've been keepin track of things on the Ross board for a while now... I hope andy and angie stay involved with it cuz they make a fine product and i'd hate to see it go away...

Thats sweet sno knight. I would be way happy with a 370 bro. I drew this year with only 4 points and thats my buttom line cut off. 370 until the last day, then i will go for a good looking 330+ 6 point on the last day if i have to. Come out to utah dude or start applyin, we have shoot 37 (atleast, could be higher, but that is confirmed, could be up to 10 more) bulls in the last two years over 400! i have been involved in 4 of them. Any you guys draw, shoot me a pm. i can give you some good starting areas on most all the units

Ordering the new Matthews Drenalin DXT in 2 weeks, shoot a Switchback xt right now and friggin love it. Cant wait for the new one!!!

jeep... seriously.. find a bowtech dealer and shoot the new generals.. you should see all the used mathews for sale in the archery shops around here.. just a night and day difference.. :D

You both should go take a look at the Alpine site. Talk about advanced engineering and agressive marketing. Thier new bow rocks. Shot it last weekend and nothing compares.

mtn... Shot one.. very very nice.. however they have a little more hand vibration.. however are a little bit faster..

The thing i didnt like about them.. they have a very very pronoticed valley.. not an easy bow to draw and hold for long periods of time.. IMO..

Another bow I about bought was the whisper creek's.. crazy smooth.. just a little heavy

Knight a buddy of mine got signed to Whisper Creeks pro staff and after he got his bow and shot it he backed out and sent it back. He's been shooting BowTech since they were a no-name and went back to them even though the benefits weren't as good since it takes another level to get on their high level pro staff. I shot the thing too and didn't like it at all. It drew ultra smooth but when the arrow was released it went down hill fast. It's hard to describe but the best way I can explain the feel was rubbery.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Ross brand. I hope they keep the product line and don't just use the name to label older technology like they originally did with the Diamond brand.

Jeep- I would agree with knight on trying a BowTech, However as I have made many converts from Mathews to BowTech. I would warn you if you've been shooting Mathews for a while or especially if you cut your teeth on Mathews you might not like the grip at first and may snap your arm a few times right off the bat.

I used to sell them both along with Diamond, Darton, PSE, Fred Bear, Golden Eagle, Browning, and Gander Guide series (I've worked in a couple different shops over the years) and can honestly say that I personally like the BowTech brand the best. Kinda sucks not having a good hookup for a discount any more though:o

xc.. I have shot quite a few different whisper creek setups.. I will agree with you on the feel.. It takes some time to get used to..but they are very smooth..

Ya its kinda nice here for the 3 sporting goods stores.. all three of them are owned by my friends.. and have worked for all of them.. :D.. no big price breaks on the bowtechs though

some of the latest skinny on the Bowtech/Ross partnership

Ross designs will continue (and new designs are en route).

Andy Ross will continue to head the Ross division.

Ross bows will be a Pro Lineup, meaning pro-shops only and no mail-order (to be strictly enforced)

Older Ross bows will continue to be warrantied, parts for old Ross bows will continue to be available.

Ross will be essentially a wholly owned subsidiary of Bowtech functioning as its own entity underneath the larger umbrella of Savage Arms... hope that clears up some of the confusion...

now, while trying not to sound like some brand loyal bastage, if you haven't tried a Ross I suggest you at least give it a looksie, the bows are super high quality and Andy and Angie Ross are truly nice folks, archers that care about archery and their customers... they are delivering some really nice shooting bows and are run like a very small dealership... i've called there several times and ended up speaking directly to them, a rare commodity in this industry...

bonz.. cool thanks for the update..

yes the ross bows are great shooting and designed with the hunter in mind.. I still have my first ross bow i bought.. probably never will sell it.. Talked with Andy a couple of different times about coming onto their prostaff a few years back.. just never did get anything going

Good to hear that they are keeping the Ross brand fully intact. Good stuff. Didn't they do that same thing with Elite Archery? Also an awesome lineup of bows.

Yes elite had the same happen with them..

If fact most small bow companies have buyout in their plans.. thats where the good money in that market is.. some have done with success.. some have not...

been doin a lil bit of research and now am very interested in the bowtech's. Anybody here shoot a 82nd or 101st airborne? gotta get to a dealer and give these suckers a try. was wary about the binary cam system, thought it was the same as a twin cam, but in fact it is way different, don't have to get them "timed" so that is sweet.

Realisticly you still need to keep an eye on the timing if you shoot a lot. (ie 100 shots a day 2 or 3 days a week like a tournament shooter) However for the average joe you'll never have a problem with timing. The best part is you don't have to worry about limb twist nearly as much as with a standard twin cam.
