Well,,, it's started,,,4 stroke Ski Doo

Unfortunately, Canam makes some fantastic four stroke engines, and have for years, prior to switching to Canam. They already have a 450cc twin making over 80 hp, in there Aprilla line. There single 650cc in there ATV is known to be able to push out to 855 and withstand enough Nitrous to triple its rated HP. Also know of a guy building one of the ATV engines into a nitro engine. Looking for around 300hp out of a normally stock 40 hp engine. And its capable....
This will do nothing more than make better machines for all of us. Four strokes of course.

Did anyone catch the weight of the machine?

I agree with ruffryder I love my apex but wait till they start boosting and long tracking them, what if in 3 years there is a factory 4 stroke, boosted, warranty, nobody buys my race fuel but me.

It sure will be interesting to see if such an engine can handle the stress and boost like the yammy.........................:):beer;

Gotta luv boost:)

I'm totally bummed... I want a Twin! the aprilla 1000 or the new Buell 1125r Rotax motors would be LIGHT without a tranny and clutch.
I rode the Buell at laguna seca 4 weeks ago and it really goes!
Both are in the 140-150 hp range Forget the turbo b.s.
A 1000-1200cc 4-stroke twin with the h.p. of a 800cc 2-stroke (weighing the same) Would get my $$ in a heartbeat!

It will come, Just wait.
:moon:

I was told 130 hp at 7700 rpm. 509# dry weight. I think it might be the same motor as in the watercraft(supercharged = 225hp)

There is probably a little more engineering involved in making a four stroke engine than a two stroke right? So if do cant make a reliable 2 stroke, what is their 4 stroke going to be like???

Cant say Im going to be another test dummy for Doo. Especially on something with double the number of moving parts!

I agree! We will see but Doo has a very strong following and they will love the machine and buy a new one the following year :eek::rolleyes:

Much as I love the Yami's it would be nice to see Doo put out a real contender in the XP chassis so that there is a true 4 stroke to 4 stroke competition. It might light a fire under Yamaha's a$$ to get some weight off their sleds from the factory.

Who's the piggy now?

2008 FX Nytro RTX - 513lbs

2009 MXZ X 1200 - 509lbs

I think its great that doo's offering the option, and I really hope its a solid sled. But the ONLY thing that would make me consider an XP is the weight advantage. At 50lbs, maybe. 4lbs? No effin way...

Doo is going to market this as an all out performance sled, but it'll probably work better as a trail cruiser, like the 1000X 'gade was.

4S Doo

Well I bleed blue so I probably won't get one but I would like to see them offer it in a mtn. version and see how it compares to the Nytro MTX. I think that we are at the dawn of the 4 stroke wars, and that the sleds will do what the MX bikes have done and we will see a lot of advancements over the next few years. The bikes did the same thing, suspension improvements in the 80's then the 4 stroke MX bikes. Here we go!!!!!

:D:beer;:D:beer;:D

20'' wide track...lol

Guy's are crying about the ride diference between 15'' and 16''. Now 20''... It may be smart. Time will tell. It should float if nothing else.

I think its great. All the companies have very capable 4 stroke engines whether from the stree bikes or watercraft. It will be neat to see what each has to offer.

But after what I have seen and heard about Doo in the last two years with the clutching and drive train issues, there is no way I would ever buy one until a few years of no issues.

Yamaha is so proven with their reliability it will be hard to look at anything else.

From BRP? Keep dreaming.

The Yamaha R6 makes 130hp out of a 599cc 4stroke and the bike weights 366lb dry:eek:

Yamaha has the technology to do it. I don't know why they won't build an all out killer sled when their streetbikes are unreal.

im glad to see it happening, compitition is great. how sad it will be if it is better then blue right out of the box. as for copying do you think every manufacturer has there own version of the rev, thats why i bought a nytro
