Welding stainless to titanium?

Does anyone know if a stainless steel O2 sensor Bung can be weld to a Titanium exhaust header? I need to put an oxygen sensor in for my new nitrous kit.

I'm pretty sure it can't (almost positive). You can get Ti welding nuts from Dobeck.

Technically my understanding is that it is possible but its impractical. I think they do some kind of a brazed weld but I'm not 100% certain, they also friction weld the two but good luck getting that done. Ti bung is your best bet then find a good Ti welding shop.

Save yourself a headache and swap out to a stainless steel header. The Ti headers are notorious for cracking and breaking in the snowbike arena.

I also need to have a bung welded on my CR500 pipe for a EGT sensor. Anyone recommend a welding or fab shop near Park City Utah? How far from the skirt does the EGT sensor need to be for a good reading?

Check with your egt probe manufacturer. I haven't used egt in a few years, mosstly AFR now, but if I remember right it's about 6" from the piston.

Dis-similar Metals

The most plausible way to weld titanium to stainless is through explosion welding, using tantalum between them. In this application stated above this method is not practical and the advice to get a new header is probably best.

On a related note, anyone know if the '14 Husky FC header is Ti or stainless?
