welding help...

I gotta agree with the others, I've done a lot of wire welding and on some fairly critical stuff, even at that I still wouldn't weld a rigid rear onto a softail frame. The stress that will be on those welds will be quite high, heat and penetration control will be critical.

if you were closer I would just weld it up for you. if you want to save some $$ get it all fit and tacked up. the welding is gravy, the fit is where the time is. use spatter shield around the weld zones to help cut back on bb's sticking and be sure to brush it off and knock off the bb's before you paint/plate it:beer;

thanks for the offer man, i appreciate it, and its what makes this site rad. Yea ill get it all tacked and ready to go before i bring it to the guys....:):beer;

As others have said, I would have someone else do it. If it is on a swingarm, not only do you need a good weld but it better be straight/square as well. It should also be backpurged as well. If not the weld is going to be contaminated on the inside assuming you got full penetration, and if you didn't get full penetration it is not going to be strong enough. What is the material you are welding? What sort of gas shield are you using?
