WE Spring adjuster stripped? Won't turn?

I was adjusting spring tension (softening/loosening) and got to a point where it got hard to turn..
It now will not tighten either..it feels as if somehow threads are stripping or something is twisted/bent up?
I even took the spring tension off the adjuster, no change.
The other side I can turn by hand.

Anyone ran into this? I'm afraid right now the spring is actually going to be too soft/loose and possibly pop out of the adjuster.
I have ~3/4" of threads left on top.

I guess it'll be easier to pull over to the PTO side for now....

One side of my 13 SBA was super tight with a shock wrench to move. The other side was worse and needed an 18 pipe wrench to turn. I think there is a problem with shocks/ threads/or collars?

Have you guys tried lubing them with some wd40 or anything? It will help them turn smoother.

Yes it's a problem. Mine did this last year, tried it back and forth with lube, no luck,so I took a bigger wrench and the tube started to unthread from shock so had to tighten it back up so I don't lose my nitrogen.
I cut off the adjusting ring and found pieces of gravel, it locks up in the threads and if your lucky it will turn, if not it will wreck the threads. I got lucky and had to only file a few threads to get it back so it would thread. Installed a new ring and I'm good.
Go slow with a zip cut when cutting the ring . Cut some off both side then snap it in half. Have fun.:face-icon-small-hap

Just did this, wd40, big crescent wrench, tube started to unthread...
What a piece of sh!t.

Turns out my spring was too soft (it actually worked very well for me) and when there is no weight on the front end the spring got unsprung and wasn't seated properly on the lower collar/plate deal.

Now I'm sure its stripped.
Can't really ride the sled w/o trashing the shock/spring/suspension now.

Last Polaris sled??

Sorta miss my Nytro...sorta.. At least what I broke on that was my own fault...or trees/rocks related. Not the manufactures fault. Polaris may have an awesome chassis, but man is the rest of the sleds build quality crap. Electronics, engines, shocks...

Ugh... /end rant

Same here, Left front shock adjuster ring just got hard to turn. Got mad at it.. was gonna teach it a lesson and sniped the spammer wrench, now it is completely stripped. Dealer better be replacing under warranty I'll make a scene if they don't. I talked to them already, were giving me the run around about rebuilding shocks under warranty and they don't have the tools to do it. I was thinking to myself what kind of dealer is this. Try to explain to the woman the shock is fine it's the adjuster ring and threads on the shock body and rebuilding will do nothing... still don't know if she understands. Tried to get her to order me one in and she wouldn't until they see the shock, so for me that means two trips to the dealer... 4 hours... one for the collar... and they can look at the shock also then a return trip for the shock, because they don't stock them. Am I venting? Ahh. Well other than that love the sled, just hit 360 miles today. If for some reason they won't warranty not going to pay the $479 for a new shock, its exits for me!

Wow, I thought this would be a one-off, odd ball issue...
Now a rash of these, primarily on 13s? WTF..

BTW, can this be installed w/o doing a complete tear down and requiring a shock rebuild?
As in, can you get the new ring installed over the casing from the bottom of the shock??

Mine did the same thing on a 12 pro. My dealer is covering it under warranty but the shock is backordered until the 28th.

I had the same thing happen to my right front shock about a month after i bought my sled (12/15/12) dealer replaced it with out any questions.

Its cool that they are taking care of it under warr....but I hope they are making a change here. I guess just make sure you clean the threads before you make adjustments.
Sounds like a very stupid/silly issue to be having.

Did anyone get an explanation as to what was causing it to not turn? I know mine wasn't dirty it was brand new.

Just took a larger wrench and wd40 to it, started twisting the tube off..

Pissed off.

What a pos.

I'm sure it doesn't matter to them, replacing parts is easier than finding solutions to problems.
But I'm just upset atm. :P

So, I tore into this today.
The threads are quite toast.
I got the old spring collar off.

How does the new one go on? I figured it would slide up over the bottom.
But I get it to the base of the shock housing and it won't slide over it.

Any suggestions from guys who have done this already?
Maybe I have the wrong part?

Need to have the sled ready to ride by tomorrow, any quick suggestions would be great.

EDIT: Just checked part numbers. Collar is 1800046 for a shock PN of 7043429. They appear to match up. So I must just not be approaching this correctly. Suggestions?

I understand I probably won't be able to use the top end of the adjustment, but I just need something so the sled works...if its stiff...its stiff. Maybe I'll just pull the sway bar then...

Help??

Any luck yet? can I get anything from Doug? Even a whole shock/spring assembly to use for the week? Shock length eye to eye extended? let me know.

Well, in 2009 on the WE "Airs" that came with the Assualt it was the fact that the had no lube between the two aluminum components, and they warrantied a ton of them, as they seized the first time you touched them.

These WE's seem to be the same as the '11s and '12s, so I would be looking for thread pitch variance, unless they switched materials somewhere during the last few years.

My front track shock kept coming loose and would unwind down to the bottom. So my shock was supper soft and had way to much ski pressure. I had triple s Polaris look at it while they were fixing my starter recoil.

They couldn't figure anything out so they put lock tight on the threads and charged me $60 labor for it... (Which I wasn't to happy with, I would have done that)

Not real impressed with the WE shocks at all

I have a near new take off rear track shock if anyone needs one. Off 2011 pro 800..$ 100.00 shipped; PM me if interested;
