Wastegate

BD 25 turbo. If I take the downpipe off the back end of the turbo, should the wastegate be in the open or closed position? Right now it's in the open position, about 1/4 inch away from the opening. If that's not right, how do you fix it? Mine is slow to boost and will only go to about 8 lbs. Boost controller has no effect.

It should be closed at rest when boost builds it puts pressure on the actuator which opens the wastegate bypassing the turbine wheel creating less drive pressure which equals less boost. If your rod that hooks the actuator to the wastegate arm is to long via the threaded adjustment it will cause what your seeing. You can unhook the arm from the rod to see if the gate is stuck if not look at the actuator itself. You can put a little bit of air pressure to it and check to see if it cycles correctly

Now what?

Actuator works when pressure is applied to it. Gate open and closes, but leaves a gap. There is no adjustment nut on the rod, just a rod from the acutuator to the wastegate. Is it non-adjustable or am I missing something?

Finally finished. Had to pull the whole turbo off so that I could remove the actuator and put some washers between the bracket and the actuator to shim it out. Now the wastegate is set to where it should be. Funny thing, when I asked the installer why it was set up with a non-adjustable actuator he said that's the way they came from Boondocker. Boondocker told me they have never sold a kit without an adjustable rod. I've had nothing but trouble since I got it, more than once I've been tempted to drive it off a cliff, probably should have a long time ago.:censored:

BD has always been supportive. Think it had to do with setup/install/"fixes" causing the multitude of problems that I've had.
