Washout at Greenwater

Just heard from the groomer, there is a washout in progress just above the upper (main) snowpark on the 70 road.
The area is going to be closed to snowmobiling until they can figure out how to fix the problem. (If it can be fixed this season)
Currently there are trees down across the road and a washout ditch that conitnues to grow immediately after the creek just above the snopark.
(evidently, the water is running down that spur road just after the creek, and flowing across the 70 road, cutting into it)

We should have more info later this evening.

saw pics from snowjammer that went up there,

NOT FRIGGIN GOOD!

maybe going to snoqualmie side or skate creek? this sucks.

A few other pictures

Here are a few other pictures that the groomer took today.
Fortunately, that pile of logs (in the picture above) is on the side road, not directly on the 70 road.

groom the 7030 twin camps

Now is a good opertunity for Ron to groom out the 7030 via twin camps on the north face. this is the first left turn off the 70 road way before you get to pyramid creek (greenwater) sno-park. He still has 5 weeks of grooming money that we should use to groom somewhere that we can have fun riding. It will take a while for him to cut thru the drifts, but it can be done and would be awsome if he would do that.

Good Luck

This makes our bearpaw area washout look minor. We are on 2 years of not being able to access our riding area. No money to fix you know.

Good News!

Good news today. They went up and were able to clear the road off and re-direct the water from flowing over the road to heading back into the creek.
Once they get some markers up to keep people from riding into the washout area, the Forest Service will let us open up tomorrow.
Grooming and riding should resume tomorrow! :high5:

Hey Ski Bum...

Does it look like there'll be snow on the road from the gate on in..??..

We'd sure like to ride up there, but can't see runnin' 5 miles on blacktop...

Thanks...

Hyfax destruction

I parked at the parking area and heard several stories from sledders who burned their Hyfaxes and overheated that I decided to park at the bottom of Crystal. I rode into Rainier national park with my wife.

Pretty tame trail but still 11 miles in a great area.

take the left up to Crystal mountain off 410 and then the immediate right to the snowpark. short trail back on HWY 410 and right at the Sunrise entrance. You can ride to the lower camp site just past the second bridge.

watch out for the snow shoers and the skiiers they can leave a mark ( kidding)

My wife needed a trail day and thats exactly what we got with no bare pavement.:face-icon-small-win

Greenwater open, but needs snow

The road is open, myself and some others spent most of Saturday deverting the water, clearing, ect. I rode Sunday Greenwater from lower gate, pretty rough on sleds getting to snow. No good solution. More Asphalt than I would have liked to run the sled across. Also the Greenwater area above 2800 feet had an inch ice layer from the rains with only a few inches of new on top. The big snows went north. It was very dangerous in Greens pass. If you went over the edge there was no coming back, solid ice, no way to get around drifts.
:face-icon-small-sad Hope they get some new snow soon.

If you go up there please be safe and make sure the ice is not bad in the bowl you are about to drop into.

There is not even any snow at the end of the pavement where the wash-out is - why in the world would the lower gate be closed? Once again - makes NO sense the times they choose to close that gate.
