Washing out empty fuel barrel?

I would have to imagine some solvent, the stuff you clean car parts in would do the trick then let it air dry. However, that is only a slightly educated guess on my part not dealing with fueling drums for a living.

That was my thoughts as well , I don't think sticking the pressure washer in there is the answer.

Given the fact that you will never get out all of whatever you put in it, use something that will not harm your engine. What was in the drum to begin with? If it was fuel before, i wouldnt bother with anything more than getting out all the old stuff you can. If it was oil of some type, i would rinse the drum out with some gas, then burn the gas in my snow blower...

Depending what was in it before, you should use a solvent that can break down the previous substance (aka use varsol if it contained oil), then flip the barrel upside down and wash it with steam until no residue remains. We do this in the oil patch every day, to purge tanks and vessels for welding and other repairs. Whether or not you have access to a steamer is another question, however.

I've done it illegally before at car washes. sloshing around fresh gas for a few days prior and pressure washing it out then doing a few more cycles of gas- pressure wash- gas till I'm satisfied. Make sure no ones around
