washer in chain case

hey guys i have been lurking on this sight for about a year. love it lots of info.
well anyways checked the dip stick on my chain case the other day on my 06 800 151 rev and found two half's of a washer about 1/4 inch in diameter. any idea what this washer goes to. haven't taken it apart before so need some help
thanks guys

Sounds like broken chain links, don't ride it until you pull it apart and inspect, it may leave you stranded.

If I remember right, quite a few 06 REVs were having chain problems. As the others have said, sounds to me like your chain is starting to come apart.

I am changing my gears and chain on my 05 this year and am going to use TEAM hyvo gears and chain.

Probably one of the washers that go between the spring on the tensioner. Lay the machine on its side and open the cover up, the spring on the long bolt(adjuster) should have a washer on each end (keeps spring from galling aluminum). If your lucky it may not have eaten your chain if you can recognize it as a washer, but I'd probably change the chain anyhow..good luck

undo the allan bolt underneath and drain the oil, undo the bolts and take off the chain case cover and inspect all the areas mentioned above. It is very easy and there is only 250ml worth of oil so just have a small bowl ready for the oil. This way you can inspect it and see if there is anything missing or broken However I agree with what one person said above. Replacing it now is a good idea so it does not leave you stranded somewhere.

The spring that goes on the tension adjuster bolt has a washer on each end, look closely and you can see them. You can see in the picture what happens when stuff starts falling off in your chaincase. In this case the lower sprocket bolt head decided to break.
