Warning Sticker Removal

Just came in from removing the warning stickers off my 13 and thought i would share what i have found to make this job a piece of cake. I just learned this over time, because i was sick of spending hours taking the warning stickers coming off in a million tiny pieces on my iq's that i had previously. Took me a total of 15 mins to remove the 3 console stickers the 5 tunnel stickers and the 4 reflectors.

The key here is heat.

I use a cheap heat gun and it makes removal a breeze...For the console vents i turn my gun on low and swap between peeling a little and re-heating. If the sticker breaks abruptly, not enough heat. If it stretches slightly and breaks, too much heat. If you do it just right you can get the sticker off in one piece everytime. Pull up a tiny little bit at a time and then re-grip as close to the "base " of the sticker as you can.

For the tunnel it doesnt really work too apply heat from the top because the aluminum absorbs so much of the heat. You really need constant heat here. I turn my heat gun on high and apply constant heat to the underneath of the sticker. Once you feel it start to get warm then start peeling. The two directly over the coolers will take a good bit of heat before you start to feel the sticker area get warm. the other 3 in the middle of the tunnel dont take near as much heat. Use the same method for removing the red reflectors from the rear of the tunnel if desired.

Hope this helps somebody. I know it would have helped me a ton had i seen it 2 years ago.

Cheers

Be careful with a heat gun on the plastic. I use a hair dryer there, and a heat gun on the tunnel. WD 40, brake cleaner, or any citrus base cleaner works good with Scotch Brite on any left over residue.

I use an old hair dryer. I hate reflectors and warning stickers. That **** has been removed from my toys as a kid. Thanks for the tips.

I use 3m adhesive remover on the leftover residue...its expensive but it works better than anything i have tried.

Just need to take your time and pull decals of slowly no heat needed. Any residue comes off easily with Coleman camp fuel, also works good for the glue left over from removing the foam on the inside of the panels.

Add your own warning stickers

After you remove the factory warning stickers that do not apply to you , you can add your own .
BTW- this warning sticker is on the wife's sled !

Ok so I wasn't gonna even bother because years ago I made a mess off this BUT after reading your post I sat down with the hairdryer tonight and got all 5 off my plastics, used WD40 to get what residue was left off and then cleaned it some more with simple green. Thanks ! I also used the hairdryer the other day to get my oil sleeve in, now the wife is wondering why the hell I keep taking her hairdryer into the garage! Good tip.

Glad i could help somebody.

Gotta get off the reflectors and stickers, makes the sled alot cleaner, I remove all foam on clutch side and hood and some on exh side panels.
I use heat tape if it's a hot spot.

I use a hairdryer and remove them and will use gorilla tape and heat to remove the residue without dulling or scratching the plastics in anyway.
Can't ever tell they were there!

Holy CRAP the stickers on the coolers were a pain! lol. GooGone removed the pile of residue neatly.
