Im trying to decide to go ahead with an idea I have... So let me know if you guys would think of useing it anytime working or riding, whenever... it would be an energy drink with a chemical mixed in, its completly safe its naturally in foods we already eat and it makes you feel warmer.

Would anyone drink an energy drink (like a 5hour energy) that made you warmer in the winter?

More info

I think we need a little more info. Would this not only be possible with an exothermic reaction? How safe can this be. If it is safe and it works, lets get the ball rollin'.

Its a chemical I would add,, i dont want to say to much about what.. but it is completly safe. its in some food people eat but if i put a larger amount it makes you feel warmer.

habeneros?

That would be bad. Having the squirts on the Mtn isn't any fun:D

Might make you feel warmer, but does it really warm you up? Sounds like a bad idea to me. You feel warm when really your freezing to death. I wouldn't want to use it.

There are already flavored coffee drinks that warm themselves without any external heat applied. Is it something like that?
There are chems in the base of the cup that when exposed to air, heat the contents up.

As 600 XC said above me here, I would be a little leary of a chemical that gives your body the illusion that it is warmer.
You might miss the clues to an onset of hypothermia.

It might be a good product for athletes like football or soccer players that play in the cold and are not 40 miles from shelter though.

Just my .02

I thought he was talking about some caffeine injected whiskey or something???

I usually take breaks while riding to cool down, not drink warm stuff. Im not sure I buy into the "make you feel warm" stuff either.

Not a rocket scientist but energy drinks create energy, energy in witch creates heat by molecules rubbing together. So a energy drink that can make my body temp rise sounds kind of scarey normal boby temp is 98.6. so this drink is going to turn the thermostat on when it goes bellow 98.6 HAhA. and turn off if I get to hot? Not trying to be a smart But Just trying to under stand how yours is Diff than the other 50 out there?

You guys are over analyzing this, hot food makes you feel a little warmer because it's hot right? Well this would do the same thing, it's not like it's a hallucinagen that's gonna make you run around naked because you feel so warm.

Maybe it could be a NIACIN RUSH with a side order of BREWERS YEAST.

Daily max reccomended dosage at one time is about 2000 mg daily to be effective and almost everybody will experience an uncomfortable facial flushing and burning rash at doses larger than 500 mg daily.

Your face turns flush and your skin starts to itch. Your heart begins to beat faster. The itching may be felt all across your face , your ears flush with blood and the "blood flush" extends down your arms then to your fingertips.

What is going on?

You may have taken a little too much niacin, or vitamin B-3. It's ok, you'll be fine, it will probably wear off in about half an hour.

What happened? I took a niacin supplement plus brewer's yeast which itself contains lots of niacin.

Niacin, also known as nicotinic acid is very necessary for your body. Niacin is needed at the cellular level. It is an important nutrient in cellular processes that create the ultimate energy currency of your body - ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate.

One form of NIACIN

Nicotinic acid, or vitamin B3, is a form of niacin that has been shown to affect all aspects of the lipid profile, lowering LDL cholesterol by 15% to 25%, lowering triglycerides by 20% to 50%, and raising HDL cholesterol by 15% to 30%. The mechanism by which it does this is not known. However, previous studies have noted that nicotinic acid reduces the amount of LDL and VLDL cholesterol made by the liver. Nicotinic acid is also associated with some undesirable side effects, such as:
flushing

itching

changes in blood glucose

gastrointestinal upset

hot flashes

palpitations

Then I'm definately not interested

I still think this--:light: looks like a fat, naked woman standing in a bucket, bent over!

Am I the only one?

It is also the best thing for the leg cramps you get after your first few rides when you're not in shape yet.

Not anymore. That's hilarious.

Now I'm going to get all drunk and see if then it looks like a hot, naked woman standing in a bucket, bent over.

i answered no to the question, but am reconsidering here.

Its a known fact that drinking cold drinks lowers your core temperature and slows your bodies reaction time (numerous athletic studies with skiers, etc)

Something like this could help you get through a long cold night a little better and a little more optimistic, which could be a difference maker.

Also i think something like this would be really cool when taking the ladies out in the snow! They would be alot happier if they were warmer!
