want to increase hp in 06 m7

My buddie has a m7 and was claiming the same about beating m1000's I weigh 60lbs more then him and stomped his m7 on my 07 m1000, you have problems.

One of the best 800 bb m7's i've ever seen has been beat by a stock m8. the bb puts out the same hp as the m7 but more torque, put the same amount of money in a m8 and you will beat a stock m1000 of the same year. the cultler 1000 does rip but I have beat them on my 09 piped m1000. half of the m7's people mod wind up making less power or have problems, its a great sled just the way it is, just make sure everthing is working the way it should. When they first came out one local dealer had m7's that flat stomped the ones from another dealer, it was all in setup.

I said piped m1000, and not your buddies,
also a few other things(more like 200+hp not 175) and not much more weight. I would say it could be close depending on what all is done. My point is when it is so much easier to get power out of the m8/m1000 why bother with an extreme mod that requires race gas, if I put that kind of money in mine it wouldn't even be a question. like I said the m7 is great the way it is.

you told me my sled has problems because it won't keep up to my buddies m7 mod. I have only seen 1 m1000 (without boost) that has kept up to this sled! come to B.C. and try this one on for size. my sled only has one problem, owner doesn't have enough $$$$$.:beer;

oh, and by the way, the thread didn't ask what to trade his m7 for, the thread asked how to get more power from his m7. try to stay on toipc.

I reread your post, at first glance I thought you where saying a m7 would beat a m1000 not the m7/1000 compared to a m1000, I agree with your statement, my bad. But would still put my modded m1000 in the comparable category, with less money spent.

I am on topic, I have seen many people dump money into a m7 trying to get more power when they didn't go over the basics to start with, usually clutching, and I've seen far more m7's ruined by mods/ or you couldn't tell a difference compared to the number of ones that did run. Also the ones that actually had a noticeable benefited where built by a pro. Just my opinion though.

Here is what I did to my 06 M7 162 LE:

-10.4 Larger Secondary Upgrade
-Sledjunky's Rollers
-Titanium clutch Springs (Stock)
-D&D Power Lite Pipe
-D&D Y-Pipe (Good for low elevation riders)
-Skinz Ultra Q Silencer

-Upgraded the rear suspension to the Fox Float setup, Titanium spring on front/rear shock (Stock)

This is all I did and I think it made a huge difference from stock. I did not have to run a fuel controller with this setup, which made it easier. I also did not run premium fuel.

I let my wife have the M6 and when i bought this M7 new I thought it was a little sluggish. Adding these mods REALLY woke up this sled, and it would hold its own against the bigger CC guys in the area. For the money I really like the return on performance.

If I were to keep the sled I would look at adding a RKtek head, and possibly a 800 big bore kit.

All in all a great sled, and very lightweight compared to other M's

The M7, when modded PROPERLY to 800 cc and piped, is a very good sled.. It is so good, that I still keep mine and ride it for a lot of the season.. Especially when other CAT shops come out and ride with us..

When the 800 kit is not done right, it may not be impressive but that is normal with anything that is not done right..

We also own at least 2 of the new M8's EVERY year.. We have yet, to get ANY of our M8's to run even close to our M7-M8BB... and trust me, it is not from lack of trying.. so, the statement that a m7-M8 BB will not outpull a stock M8 is not true IMO...

In fact, I offer anybody to come ride with us and bring any Mod 1000, 1200, or 800 CAT and we can compare against this little M7-M8 BB.. I think you will be surpised...

Bottom line.. The M7-M8 BB kit is an outstanding kit when done right..

I trust what RKT says.
But I was not refering to a full on ported piped m7 BB with all the rkt stuff(saying that would have just been dumb), just a m7 BB vs a m8 and all other mods the same, not saying it cant be done but is it worth it?

I'm just giving my opinion, and what I've seen.

Another vote for RKT's 800 BB Kit.

I just upgraded my M7 this summer with Kelsey's kit, and I can't wait for the snow to fall and try it out :) Kelsey was really helpful when it came to answering any questions I had during the purchase and installation process. I also purchased a Boondocker box from him since I am running a Speedwerks single pipe, RKT head, and a SLP can. I will follow up with a ride report upon the first snow fall.

How much

I just had mine installed last week, noticeably MORE power just loading it onto the sled deck. Can't wait until it's broken in and I can ride it like it wants to be ridden!

I can't say enough positive things about Kelsey and his willingness to answer my questions and help me understand the "why's" of motors, exhaust theories, etc.... I truly appreciate his help and patience and what I've learned this summer has been great.

Do a bunch of searches for big bores, etc...and you'll see a few names consistently pop up with GREAT reviews. It doesn't take long to see a trend and why Kelsey's motors are so highly recommended. :D :beer;:beer;:beer;
