Ok who out there has done the full mod evolution ecu deal on their turbo nytros?

How did it work?

I would like to know what piggyback you are running with it and how it now performs with the ecu reprogramming. If you have done any of the "optional" mods such as the handwarmer fix let us know how that did too

Mainly interested in the mod with new injectors, but curious about it all

Thanks

I have done the ecm upgrade. The hand warmers work unreal they are hot before the red light goes out.The warning light for temp is on quite a bit more on the trail. The over all performance feels better now.Next year I will turn up the boost a bit more but 16 lbs feels good without a head shim.

16lbs...

You are running 16 lbs "without" a head shim?? What turbo kit? What fuel octane?

I run a modified trask kit with a boost it controller.I also installed head studs and a cometic 31 thou head gasket so its like having a 10 thou shim this makes it very responsive.I ran a barrel of vp111 for the first part of the season then changed to 25% toluene with 94 pump fuel.!6 lbs is a lot of fun like this at 6 lbs I would sell it.The looks I get dumping toluene in it is pretty funny.

Toulene

You are aware how toxic toluene is?? It is a proven carcinogen, ..and will give you cancer, and destroy your liver. ...not sure what all else! It is bad ****e whether splashed on your skin or fumes inhaled.

To each there own, ..enjoy!

I love it when someone comes out with something off the wall. Freakin awesome!!! I'm not saying I would ever run tolulene... Is it even feasable to run it cost wise? Personally I agree with Captain Ron on toxicity but it is pretty cool to think about running a sled on something like tolulene.....

Toluene is fairly cheap 40.00 $$ for 5 gallons.I have read the msds sheets on the stuff and try to keep exposure to a minimum.I wanted to find something reasonably inexpensive to try and this fit the bill.I googled toluene as an octane booster and it seemed good. When I get the motor apart for new rods i will no if it was a good idea.

I'm shocked

toluene doesn't seem too bad according to this article..even says its unlikely to cause cancer..

This link is from the State of Wisconsin Health Department, one must assume that they know what they are talking about. Sure is contrary to what was marked on the containers when I used to purchase Toluene. I used the product for the same reason, as a gasoline additive to increase octane levels. I was drag racing cars at the time, (30+ years ago). This was long before the days of WHMIS and MSDS, but the pals were clearly marked with skull and crossbones, with warnings stated on the label, including that it was a carcinogen. As race fuels became more readily available, I quit using the stuff. I was using one gallon of toluene with 3.5 gallons of pump premium, we were also adding a half gallon of diesel to raise the BTU's.

It did work well for raising the octane level, but it sure had a nasty smell in the exhaust.

Interesting how the Wisconsin Health Department deems it safe??

I think I will stick to gasoline.

Seems I pulled this thread way off topic, for which I apologise. I am also curious about the Evolution ECU reflash's

Cheers

As for the reflash I would recommend it.I wish 1 of the 2 310MCX kits would have tried my ECM to get a reel comparison on similar machines.Theres always next year.
