Im posting here because my engine is out of an edge. I built an IQR this summer and put in an 03 800 ves from an edge sled. Crank was all gone through by SLP and had the wide bearing put on. Now it has around 400miles on the gone through crank. I've been debating boost on it for some time, i know sometimes they can be a pain with the carbs but im good with tuning and powerjets have gotten pretty simple. I'd like to hear others that have had a turbo, good and bad. Let me hear if you liked it or not. Everyone is going boosted now and i have a chance to get a set up cheap so why not? or?

Thanks

Rule #1 - Turbos are not for everyone.

Look at all the threads with issues. I will garuntee, it will take a bit to get it running. If it doesnt, that is fantastic. You will have days that make you smile for months and days that you want to cry.

Sounds like you have done some projects... so I think you would be fine.

Carb turbo... they are as simple as can be and very tunable. They are no different than the efi. Example.. all the guys with the turbo XP's. They love em. Take a peak into the Doo turbo section and see. I can ride mine for days without touching a thing. Once you have it close, it will just be adjustin the power jets.

What is the kit or system you are looking at buying?

Noticed your from Colorado. I would think Rick @ Peak would be a huge help if you need it.

Outlaw brings up good points.

In my opinion most the people that say carbed turbos are a pain, have never owned one. The guys I talked to that actually ran carbed set ups have little complaints if any.

If you can get the kit cheap then why not? If you don't like it you can convert it back.

My .02

Its a bad oscar customs kit. Includes everything i would need, it is going in the iqr so it will need some slight modification which is no problem. I feel like i've been there done that with tuning so to me i can't see it being a problem, 9-10 rides the guys running boost on the efi's are under the hood messing the boost and fuel levels anyways. I figure if i get a handlebar mount powerjet adjuster i can adjust on the fly and really have a good runner. Im wondering guys that have run turbos what amount of boost they were running and what they all did to the motor to get it good.

Thanks

not real familiar with that kit. What turbo is it an aero? If it is, it could be cheap due to a messed up turbo. It will cost a fortune to fix. All the turbos have their good and bads though, so dont let that hinder your decision.

As far as the motor that motor goes. Do the same things you would if it was N/A. The specifics on the motor will depend on the fuel and/or boost you want to run.

Mits TDH50 turbo, This is what i'd be buying.... http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294318
Just got my taxes put in so im thinking.......
i've rebuilt a turbo before so im thinking i could do that if its a must. I kinda like to think i know what im doing. For everything else theirs friends...

That kit is a little old school. It has the hobbes switch on it yet. The mechanical oil pump is a bonus. I think he means its a TDO5... I would assume its a 16g but would be interested in the comp size.

The Mits is kind of the black sheep of turbos. They are a bit different animal and their capabilities can be misunderstood. Biggest bonus is you can rebuild it yourself, and you can order individual parts for it. We have had very good luck with them.

I would guess your going to spend about $500 in parts to get the kit up to date.

I am very interested in this concept as well. What kinda system r u looking to have ie a race gas 10psi or more pump gas 5/6psi? With these motors going to a turbo kit is there any benefit to doing a head shim to nock down compression a touch? i recently put on the "intelajet" the newer version of the "dial-a-jet" huge difference. With your iqr did u do the oil injection delete? keep us posted
