so here is the deal. i just bought an 09 RMK 800 and i really wanna wake it up without dropping 5 grand on a turbo just yet. anyone have any thoughts as to how i can do this? the sled already rips, i just want it to rip even more. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

What is your budget? I put an SLP exhaust on mine with airbox and recommended SLP clutching. Also have quite a few vents. Got the update done as well. It now runs worse than ever. Ok, so that was no help. Here is a list of mods that people have seemed to like on theirs that are non-turbo.
1. Power Commander 3 or 5
2. Slp twin Pipes (see F-bombs threads)
3. Different skid set-up (Timbersled, Holz, etc.)
4. Lightweight Muffler
5. Clutching. Check the increasing your IQ sticky in this section. 800poodragon (who is also from Great Falls) seemed to have a great clutching set-up last year. You might PM him and see what he thinks.
Good luck with your new sled. I am sure more people will chime in with some good ideas as well.

i run twin pipes but on a 700 huge difference from the barely noticeable from stock slp single if your after all out power twins or turbo is the way to go. twins work awsome on these sleds compared to old carbed sleds where they would run good at one hill and crappy at another are gone due to our cfi

SLP twin pipes on the D8's are a bit finiky to clutch correctly depending on snow conditions and requires race fuel to run them.

Some of the customers who we installed them on really liked the twins and didnt mind adjusting clutching on the mountain. But for the customer who just wants to ride, didnt like them and went back to a single.

if you don't want to spend $5,000 on a turbo, you could get a $3500 turbo from Silber! ;)

I would start with the PCV before any pipe mods.

good clutching, gear it down, slp single pipe if you want it, curts(fastrax motorsports)drop and roll and a 2.5 camo extreme...I promise you you will be impressed..if I can get these 1080 hd vids to load to photobucket I will show you a good performing D-8....this is tims(theultrarider) son spike..he gets a little cocky ..but it shows a good running D-8..this motor had less then 15 miles on it at the time this vid was shot....
