Thanks for the tip. We voted for Pinedale. Can you get to Alpine/Afton from Pinedale over the mountains by sled or ATV? We have snowmobiled that range out of Alpine and we loved it! And I have heard nothing but good things about Pinedale.
They do have snow in Nevada, Arizona, and Wisconsin though.

You can, but if you're talking about actually driving your ATV from the town of Pinedale to Alpine or Afton you would need to have it plated and street legal. You would head over on McDougal Gap Road, then you can go north to Alpine or South to Afton on Grey's River road.

In the winter, you can't really ride straight from the town ... You have to trailer in ~25 miles to Horse Creek, and then you can sled from there over to Alpine.

With that said, the main trail over is in rough shape this year due to a landslide, so they aren't grooming that part of it.
