We are a volunteer department transitioning to a combination/paid department, I am full time paid. We do structure, wild land and also run an ALS ambulance service out of the Fire House. Best job in the world!!
Here is a video of some of our training I put together, go to youtube and type in CMFPD to see them all. Take care...Jeff
I can not get the video to embed, done it before on other boards, heck if I know.
Not a volunteer (yet) but just landed a job building fire trucks...has to be the coolest job I've ever had...a lot goes into the trucks that no one thinks about except for the firemen that use them.
30 year carrer wildland. Retired 10 years now and have been pulled out of retirement every summer when the forest fires heat up. It keeps me in shape and buys some steak to go with the beans the retirement buys.
volunteer here also. been in the squad for 2 and ahalf years now...trained for wildland fires but just havent been able to go and fight forest fires yet
Full time paid here for 8 years. Structure, wildland, EMS, Hazmat, technical rescue. It has to be the best job in the world. Gives me lots of time to hunt and ride too.
Volunteered for 6 years. Professional now for 20 years. Eighteen as a firefighter, now 2 years as a captain. Department of 110 professional and about 50 volunteer. Agreed!......best job in the world!
Wanna see some cool pics. Google: Okanagan Firestorm 2003. We had a wildland fire that claimed 238 homes in two days. I took most of the up close pics of the residential burns.
