voltage regulator question?

Does anyone know if the voltage regulator is grounded and if so does it ground to the tunnel or is there an internal wire taking it to ground? My voltage regulator is just flopping around in there. It does have the rivots still attached but REALLY sloppy.Wondering if this could cause a missfire if not grounded correctly? Thanks

it should be bolted to the chassis not rivoted?

i would bet there is an internal wire thats ground the circuit to the housing, and then the housing grounds to the chassis.

i routed ground wires myslef from ECU, VR, coils all to one grounding point on the chassis hoop....

i would secure your VR regardless if you think there is an issue or not. cheap insurance...

Definitely going to secure it to the chassis, but it is rivoted (weird)I would think if it is supposed to ground to the chassis then I might be getting a bad ground, just flopping around in there. When you say you routed your ground wires, did you add ground wires?
Thanks Guido

made my own grounds just incase...the dragons had ECU & VR ground issues..so its a just incase thing .

cranktwister...

i am not correct on my statement above about teh way the VR is mounted...

on the 05 900s, they are riveted to the bulkhead under the ECU...

on the 06 700/900s, they are bolted to the side of the bulkhead on the other side of the secondary clutch...and i have been messing with my 06 more this summer, so looked at my 05 and its not the same...

your best bet is to drill the old rivets out and put in new steel ones, and secure that bad boy down...

cranktwister, no insult intended, but are you sure you're looking at the regulator and not the capacitor when you say riveted on ? On my 900, the regulator is bolted in place just inside of the secondary clutch and the capacitor is riveted in place on the engine side of the ECM.

Edit: Oops, sorry. I guess I should have read guido's post about the differences between '05 and '06 sleds before posting.:embarassed:
