Voltage Regulator Problems

Probably a stupid question but here goes, will a 13 PRO run with a bad Voltage Regulator? Long story short, sled dies while riding a couple days ago, found a shorted out "headlight delete" resistor, brought it home, fires up the next day like nothing happened.

Ran it around to the garage, fires up then died again, will pop every once in awhile. Pulled plugs, they are getting spark, but just won't run at the moment.

Checked all the grounds and connections but have just about pulled my shoulder out of socket trying to get it to fire. So if the shorted resistor took out the entire VR will that stop it from running or maybe run intermittently? Hate to spend close to $200 just to swap a part.

Thanks

Yes and no...

Run till the Factory Smoke is out!

Any bubbling on the back side??

You might be getting spark..

But ZERO INJ. Pulse.. = Zero Fuel..

Look in to the VR.. Might end up being the ECU! EEK!

Mine would run than MFD would go blank , headlights would dim than go out next sled would die, let it sit would start again and go through the whole process again.Took it to dealer bad regulator!Hope this helps.

Rolled the dice, drove 2 hours to a shop that had a VR in stock, didn't help. Ended up pulling so may times I snapped the recoil. Had enough..... just left it at dealer, told them to call me when its fixed!!!!

I would put the headlight back on and call it a day. I have seen so many electrical problems because of removing them to save what 2-3 pounds......but you add a pound of that back with some other light.

I just went through this hassle with mine. The guage check engine light come on then went into DET then the whole guage shut off. Headlights still worked and the sled still ran but because the regulator wasent sending an accurate reading to the injector it would idle fine but when you give it any throttle it would cut out. Tested everything on the sled and found that the regulator was the problem. Replaced it and havent had any problems again yet.

voltage regulator

Even with a bad regulator, you can still get spark, just not enough to run. When mine blew, it took out the ECU along with it. Just hope that it was ONLY the regulator. Let us know what the dealer found.

try unpluging the key switch and starting it i had very close to the same problem last year and replace alot of parts j
