voltage regulator?? please help!

05 rev. 1st ride the hand warmer burnt through the right hand grip. 2 nd ride with the earners off the sled doesn't run right. The sled will have full power and running right then the power cuts down to half of what's normal and the sled boggs down then it goes back to normal and keeps repeating its self. Any help is appreciated!!

I'm not sure where you're from, but I have a brand new regulator I can sell you for a great price if you need. I was having different problems than you, but thought it may have been the regulator. It wasn't. Lol. Regulator was on the sled for literally 20 seconds of run time

I'm in the interior of bc. Shipping shouldn't be too outragous.

When my stator went bad my sled was underpowered, like it was running very lean. My headlights and tail lights were dim and my guages weren't working.

I tried testing as much as I could but came to the conclusion that there is no real way to test either stator or regulator. It boils down to making an educated guess, swapping out a part to see if it fixes the problem. I made the wrong guess, but a regulator is easy to change, and a quarter the price of a stator so I tried it

Let me know what you decide and we can make a deal

it could definately be the stator. The stator feeds the regulator an ac voltage. The regulator the converts that voltage to a DC voltage which the rest of the sled uses. If either of the components fail you will be getting strange issues.

In your case I would be leaning towards the stator as the regulator is electronis and would likely fail completely if gone bad. At first my sled would work spiratically as yours does. It sounds like similar issues, but like I say, the only way to know is to replace either of the parts and see if the problem is solved. Before that though check all visible wires damage, unplug anything you can, lights, guages, etc. To see if something is shorting causing your problems.

Good luck. Electrical problems are a nightmare, but with some tedious, and possibly expensive trouble shooting you'll be ripping in no time
