Visiting Layton for the holiday, where to ride?

Bringing the family down from Washington for Christmas. I've seen the video's and heard about the snow so I've got permission to grab a day or two to ride while down there. My brother in law hasn't ridden much but has friends who have told him that we should check out the Daniels Summit area. Any suggestions? We will be out of Layton.

Also I am making the decision on whether to tow my 08 Xp down with me or rent. Which dealers have good reps on renting good mountain sleds.

I live in Layton. We ride Monte Cristo (Scare Canyon) & Logan Canyon (Tony's). Both great rides. Triple-S in West Haven in close by and rents pretty cheap and hassle-free. I know the guy, PM me if u want his number. Good Luck!

From Layton you can be at the top of Farmington Canyon in 35-40 minutes, Bountiful "B" in 25 minutes, Gaurdsman Pass in 50 minutes, Monte in 60 minutes, Up Chalk Creek road out of Coalville in 55 minutes into the Uintas and if you want to go as far as 90 minutes to 2 hours you can go to any of the great places up Logan Canyon or Providence Canyon, Over to Daniels summit area, Kamas and Hwy 150 into the Uintas.

Layton is a great place to ride from.

Bring your sled. You know what it does and how to ride it.
All the above post are great places to ride and you should be able to hook up with someone from here over the holidays.

Thanks for the info, guys. Keep it coming. Especially the on the riding areas and how to get to them.

As to the rocks, heck I've only been able to road ride here at home as of yet. So careful is the name of the game.

Not much base here yet, plenty of rocks. You might have better luck at a place called Skyline Dr. up Fairview Canyon. Its about 3 hours southeast ish down Spanish Fork Canyon. Do a google search, the place always gets more earlier than the Wasatch Front.

Is the chalk creek rd area open to 'public', or for tours only (on private land)?

Tryin to figure out how you get from Chalk Creek Rd into the national forest land.

EDIT: nevermind. :) Won't let the cat out of the bag here.
