Viper oil breather

Anyone that has a Nytro knows about oil getting everywhere when the sled is upside down for a period of time. Is it the same for the Viper? Has Yamaha done anything to prevent this from happening? If not what is going to prevent oil from getting on the exhaust/turbo and causing a fire to start? And if they did something different can it be changed on the Nytro? I've purchase a roll over valve for the Nytro and found out they eventually go bad.

In looking at these sleds at the snowshow it appears there has been some effort to better the situation but I don't think there is an actual valve that will prevent oil from escaping the tank. I wish there was a better solution than what is out there now. Even though the rollover valve works very well it doesn't take care of everything. Oil can still get out through the vent in the valve cover when the sled is upside down long enough.

Yamaha has installed a check ball that helps prevent the oil from leaking when the sled is upside down. On the MCX kits the breather is plumbed back in to the intake to prevent any spillage in the engine compartment. The check vale works ok but after multiple rollovers there is still leakage on certain angles. I am going to go with a rollover tether w valve in the end. Worked flawlessly on my nytro. Still experimenting but suspect the factory check ball is causing some venting issues on some of the extreme angles mountain sleds see. Should have a definitive answer or that after the weekend. After some growing pains loving the new chassis feels terrific. Turbo kit has been stellar setting the chassis up around it has been the more time consuming process. Go figure take a perfectly good snowmobile, uncrate, then completely rip it apart and bolt on every part you can find in any catalogue and pout when it isn't turn key first ride :face-icon-small-ton

Cheers!
