Video Editing

I was interested to know what people use for video editing software to make their sled videos? im not out to try to sell mine, i have just been making videos for the last few years with my buds. right now i use Adobe Premiere which is ok but the problem is transfering to a burnable DVD file. i lose all the video quality formating it.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to keep the quality with my setup or should i go to something else? I am interested in getting a Mac and Final Cut but that is a big investment to soley make videos for me and my friends.

Adobe Premier is an good program for doing the kind of stuff you're talking about. You shouldn't be losing quality from the project to DVD though. I work in FCP HD so I'm not a jedi on Premier but you should go to some online Premier forums and ask about the workflow to DVD. You're probably just missing one step or not setting up something right.

my guess would be that you would need Adobe Encore, which is a DVD "creating" tool for Adobe..
You can, when you've got Encore, export a Premiere project to Encore and this should keep the quality on a higher level...

i say should cause i can't get my Encore to work..... but, that's just cause i've got a 64-bit cpu, which Adobe don't support and Encore just kills itself when i'm trying to use it...

but, get Encore and your videos should work fine...

We use Adobe Premiere CS3/Encore CS3 for our complete workflow (with some addtional tools to make life easier). It works great! Very little quality loss.

By the way we have a guy that rides with us that lives in New Prague.

+1 for Mac, either FCPro or iMovie HD/iDVD, which comes with every machine Apple sells.
