Video Editing

What's everyone using out there for video editing besides Windows Movie Maker. Mine always freezes and I find it very frustrating. Any free ones out there that are decent??? Thanks.

The reason your computer is freezing up is probably not the fault of the software, it might be the computer itself. In the mean time you might wanna try shutting down all other applications that might be running, trim the fat on the memory delete anything thats not needed, editing software will dominate your computers ability to operate.

Google video editing software, for Mac or PC and see what pops up. Most will have demo/beta versions

Maybe give that a try.

Well this is not what you were asking for, but I torrented a copy of adobe premier pro. It is great and once you figure it out it can do much much more than the cheaper programs. Like I said though this isn't really what you asked for because I wouldn't recommend paying for it because the extra features aren't really necessary, it's just nice to have if you are comfortable "stealing" it.

I've had nothing but problems with Corel. Not very intuitive, crashes, some apps will only work sporadically. Maybe it's my laptop, or me ... but look closely before considering them.

I found anything free sucked bad. Tried Sony Vegas, Corel Video Studio, and a couple of the other cheaper ones, bought Corel.

Corel crashes on me all the time, but I've noticed it only does it when processing quicktime .MOV files from the ContourHD, doesn't crash when working with .MOD(?) mpg type files from my JVC HD cam.

I still use it cause it does well putting together DVDs and its easy to use. Planning to format, move to Windows 7 x64, add more Ram and find new software.

I've been using Corel (Ulead) video studio since version 6.
I've only had problems with it crashing if you don't have the correct codec installed for the source your using. Used to have this problem a lot before digital camera makers started using mp4.

Vegas is great but it can be overly complicted for beginners. and expensive.
