vick

It's not all about the dog fighting, Vick lied to the commissioner repeatedly about his involvement in the dog fights, and breached his contract with the NFL and the Falcons by gambling and illegal gambling to make it worse.....then he lied to the commissioner about that too. I think the crimes can be forgiven(due to him serving his time) but their have been other athletes that have lost careers over gambling and breaching contracts. Look what Major League Baseball did to Pete Rose and he never killed anything. Goodell said he was going to clean up the NFL when he took over as commissioner in 06 and so far, other than suspending Pacman Jones he really hasn't done anything. I don't care if Vick plays or not, but I think allowing him back in the league is sending the wrong message to other players and the public about the NFL and undermines the integrity(if there's any left) in the league.

Well I don't think we have any say on the Vick situation It will be up to the fans whether they will forgive him and consider his payment adaquate. After all it is the Christian belief you should forgive transgressions. Lets hope his remorse is genuine and he has become a better man. With that said I am glad the Seahawks didn't go after him. Swampy:eek::D

I would have lost a little respect for Allen and company if they had.

Hey let him play it's just one more gang member off of the streets on weekends.

Lmao! Aint that the truth.

I watch a little football, but I think all professional sports are full of thugs and losers that couldn't get a job washing dishes if they had to.

How about Ron Artest or Spreewell. They should be in prison!

hockey is quite a bit better than basketball or football as far as the people in it. as is baseball i think! golf, tennis, ping pong, bowling, no one really cares so meh!!!:D:D:D

Dogfighting is dispicable, but so is murder, Ray Lewis killed a guy and tell me how much time he spent in prison?

Exactly! The Guy get off with Murder and nothing ever happened to him. That’s the guys that they should kick out of the league. Same with Stallworth

Say what? Goodell already has the reputation as being the most heavy handed and iron fisted commish in the history of the NFL. Pacman, marshal, lynch, stallworth, Vick, tank Johnson, Henry, the list is LONG. He is so bad that the players union is going to go after his power this next time their contract is up.

All of these criminals in the pro leagues have the right to work, but shouldn't it be an honor to be in the league especially considering the obscene amounts of money they get paid? I have no problems with any of them doing their time and moving on, just not in a pro sports atmosphere. We don't need any more government involvement, just self policing from the leagues. If they take a substantial stand against crime, the boys (if the want to play in the league) will stay away from a chance to be involved in a crime. I cannot believe how much a large check book will eliminate some jail time. Vick got what he deserved and did his time without much drama, for that I respect him.

End of rant.:)

Good Thread and good debate.

I have always thought that the NBA and the NFL do this country a great service by keeping these gangbangers, (oh, sorry I meant PLAYERS), off the streets while they are "performing". Between the players and their entourages their must be several thousand thugs involved and we are all a little safer while they are at the stadium at least.

he did the crime he payed his time. The end! If he is smart he will try to repair the damage by being outspoken against it and change a cultural norm from acceptable to unacceptable.

I hate hearing "these guys make obscene amounts of money."

Ya, maybe. When was the last time 70,000 people showed up and paid to watch you work? Not to mention the millions on TV.

but why would the owners change the status quo....if they can afford to pay the players think what they make.
