ves or polaris blue?

The most noticeable difference will be the cleanliness of your exhaust valves. The blue will not burn as clean and may cause your exhaust valves to stick. If you don't have a problem cleaning them once a year(end of the season), go with the blue.

Does polaris suggest the full syn over semi due to emissions, or is it due to what the engine needs for long term? For the few bucks more it cost per gallon I will stick to what the manufacture recommends.

thought i seen some reputable crank guys on here talking about an issue with ves oil and crank bearings. tried to search for the post but had no luck. manual says to use polaris semi synthetic during break-in.

I'll contest this... we did a season long test on 2 600RMKs one ran blue one ran VES. At the end of the season both sleds had within 50 miles of each other put on them. I pulled the valves and handed them to half a dozen different people and asked them to tell me which one used VES and which one blue. There was no visible difference... they both needed a good cleaning. :)

In my opinion, VES Gold should be used to keep the dust down on your driveway, treating fence posts, or heating your shop with an oil burning stove... it shouldn't be put in your snowmobile.

I've pulled a handful of motors down that run it and they have a sticky goo in them and smell like burnt peanut oil.
