ves gold for breakin?

When I picked up my new 09 d8, the dealer had put polaris VES gold in the gas tank, as well as in the resivior. Upon doing some research, I noticed that everyone else recieved polaris blue in the gas tank. I have never broken in a new sled, and am wondering if I should siphon all this out. Will running it like this screw up the breakin, and possibly the motor? Thanks for any help on this!!!

it wont ruin the motor..it will prolong the breakin..even with the blue oil it can take up to 300 miles to fully seat the rings according to polaris..I would drain and refill with blue oil in the fuel tank(run the old stuff thru your vehicle)...the oil in the oil tank is ok according to polaris.........

There are many theories on this from different people and manufactures. You will find some companies specify synthetic from day one and others will tell you to use semi synthetic. Most oils whether it is petroleum, semi synthetic or synthetic all meet most of the same oil criteria and standards for 2-stroke engines. Some just do it better than others.
Personally, I break in all my motors with full synthetic. Right or wrong, I haven't had any problems. Is that the reason? Doubtful, but I do it that way because it gives me a peace of mind.
If it was me in your shoes, I would just run it. Why? Because I would have put a full synthetic in there anyway. ;)

lol..good one monty...and you are right for sure..it aint going to burn down for sure....just because it is synthetic.....the extra oil is protection incase the oil pump doesnt work right during that first run.....

The type of oil for break in makes no difference, just run what you are going to run and ride the poop out of it! :beer;

leave it and ride it hard, thats what I have done and I have not had any engine problems

Dealer told me to run 2 pints of polaris blue semi synthetic oil in first tank of gas. Also to run polaris blue semi synthetic oil in the oil tank for the first fill up then run polaris ves gold from then on.

At my dealer in colorado the mechanic personally told me to run one pint of semi (blue) in the gas tank and gold in the rez. Make a long story short, I asked why blue and not gold in tank. His response was a couple minutes long....the jist of it was the semi (blue) had certain properties which "speed up" the break in process as compared to the gold. Sorry I dont have the tech terms he was using but I gathered from the conversation was that both oils will do the same thing if put in the tank but the blue will speed the process as compared to the gold. I broke in my new turbo D8 this season in this exact manor. One pint of blue in gas tank and rez filled with gold, 240 miles this year and sled rips. :)

I do agree with using non synthetic for proper break in but it will break in with the gold oil. It is not worth the effort to empty out the tank and the gas tank to change the oil and I had no problems with mine that got broke in with gold. run the thing hard it will break in. and if it was all for break in and you want more friction why do you put more oil in the tank? that is my question

You put the oil in the tank for 2 reasons:

1. Oil injection is only 50:1 or so, not enough protection to seat a new motor (opinion).

2. Additional protection in the case of air in your injector line, gives you a chance to make sure the injector oil is flowing before you destroy the motor.

Poo is being way over pertective on this I think. first off our machines are not new and should not have any air bubbles in the line, not any more than 300 miles down the road. second I have there team tips in front of me and it says 1 quart to the first tank of (semi synthetic). That in itself is 40 to 1 plus the 50 to one of the injection oil. Wow and you wonder why they run like crap when you cram all that oil through the motor?

so you think more oil will seat the rings better then running gold oil w/o putting any oil in the tank, I under stand for new motors but not when putting on new top ends. I figure with the other questions I would throw this in:beer;

synthetic oil break-in

Corvettes, Porsches, and Ferraris all come from the factory with full synthetic in their engines. I contacted Mobil 1 several years ago, and they sent me an info packet rebutting "myths" about synthetics. Break in with normal oil and then changing to synthetic is one of those myths. Hope this helps.
