ves cdi on non ves

Will a ves coil work on a 1999 non-ves motor? I am looking to put perc on my sled. Thanks.

Are you taking about the CDI or the coil? Coils are the same between the later non-VES and VES engines, however the CDI's w/ PERC are different. I am currently building a 2008 Dragon RMK project sled right now with a 1997 700 non-VES and running the PERC set-up off a 2004 RMK 800. I did a lot of digging and asking around but decided to send my CDI to Pro-5 and had it re-flashed to the 1997 RMK 700 timing curve just to be safe.

My 2003 rmk has a 1999 700 motor in it. I really want perc reverse as opposed to mechanical reverse. I am slowly sourcing the parts that I need to do this but was curious if the ves cdi would work well with the non-ves motor. Thanks for the response.
