Venting 1100 turbo

What are you guys doing on the clutch side top where the plastic factory vents aim towards the header and clutch? Did you discard them for the vent? Just picked up sets of moflo vents for our 1100t's really nice vents, look like they better constructed than the mod rods ones to me for what it's worth.

Ya, ditched the plastic tube and vented sides, left/right of hood, nose frogskin. Evo blankets are going to help with the source of the heat which hadn't been addressed before.
I think both vent kits are well done, I've done both. I do like the knee vents and bumper from mod rod.

Another thing to remember is to decrease the production of heat under the hood. Header and turbo blankets significantly decrease the underhood heat. Can also heat tape wrap the rest of the exhaust.

I have moflow vents and love them. I ditched the factory plastic chimney and had no problems. This year I am adding the EVO header and turbo blanket and will header wrap the rest of the exhaust. As well I will be adding the EVO intercooler fan which will help move the heat out of the sled. I have vented the crap out of all my machines for the last 6 years and have had few belt issues because of this. My 09 M8 was vented like crazy and I put 2600 miles on the belt before it decided it had enough. With the venting on my 1100 turbo I put 700 miles on last year and still have not replaced the belt.

Plus I love the way a vented sled looks. Some guys wrap sleds, I prefer to cut holes in them and cover them with mesh. LOL.

Will the header/turbo blanket and exhaust wrap lead to premature failure of those parts. We header wrapped pipes on our race cars and the tubes just got ate right though then would crack. Turned into a maintenance nightmare.

what's a good pipe wrap? got the down pipe and straight pipe to do.

I like the DEI titanium. Otherwise the DEI black is nice too.

Here is a shot of the titanium.

Maybe Jim can chime in here but there are lots of commercial applications that use blankets from semis to heavy equipment. I think the construction and material in turbo blankets is heavier and more durable. The more they are removed or handled the more wear they will show thou. Seen a lot of highway semis with blankets that have hundreds of thousands of miles.
