Vector into the Rev - Another New Build

Reeb

Chasing mini sleds around

So I ended up with Alpine Motorsports original Demo Vector the other day. Traded a good friend of mine for a ATV. He's having fun already, and I'm ready to tear this sled apart.

She's got about 6500km and has a new M-10 162" under it. Running the stock motor with a GT25 on her.

Now the plan was always to find a Vector and shove it under the hood of my Rev. I was never too serious about finding one, but if the chance came around, I knew I'd jump on it.

So here we are, 06 Rev with a bad lower rod bearing(big surprise eh) and a perfectly good running '05 Vector Turbo.

I've cruised thru a few threads, but nothing specific to motor mounts, steering, piping, and general layout of the forced air set-up. I've learned a lot thru pictures, but you can't learn everything.

So as much help as possible would be appreciated.
A build thread may eventually show up as I get to working on it.

Any spare parts I have will be going in the Swap. I have to pay for a number of mods I'd like to do on this thing, with that money. (Belt drive, 3" track) So help a brother out!

good luck, its a lot of work, but they are a lot of fun if you put in the work and do em right.

if you got any questions feel free to heckle me. mine was a 4cylinder. but same idea.

Nice! Someday I want to build a T-Rapex, probably just because the name sounds cool.

Well I sent you a PM. . .

But you may want to look up what carbondaddy did. I am pretty darn sure his had the alpine turbo as well. So I think that the header will work in a rev(though his was a rt). The intercooler is going to need to be reworked in a big way. There are a couple ways you can go about this. Build another plenum to go on the carbs and mount the intercooler up in the front or in place of the headlight. Or build a new tank for the end of the intercooler and put it how I had mine. I would likely go with the first option now after doing mine. The reason being the intercooler will be more efficent and a small plenum will be much easier to work with on the carbs if you need to change something. Also You will NEED to build a new steering post to do it right. I will check to see if I still have the first one I built. It was thinner wall and I was uncomfortable with it so I built a heavier one. If i can find It I will send it to you and you can use it for mock up.

SD-IT - Thanks man, I know how much help you were to 583 and I'm banking on similar insights ;) Same goes for you my friend!(583) I'll have to call up carbondaddy and I wanna talk to McLaren about his buddies YamaDoo I saw run.

Like I mentioned, this sled doesn't have to be on the snow this winter, I have a couple others to choose from so I'm not in any hurry to rush this project. Since so many others have gone thru growing pains with theirs, I'm taking the methodical approach(I know I'll have growing pains too) I just hope they won't be so severe as some of yours.

583 - I mentioned in the PM I had some ideas for the IC and you gave me another option I wasn't thinking too hard on. But now I might. If you send me your steering post, I don't want the one that was 6ft high! I'm not THAT tall! LOL
Any measurements you think I should start off with(angle of motor, distance from(here to here) or anything else you guys may recommend?

I literally have two (almost) running sleds at the moment so this project is very much in it's infancy. Now's the time to plan and get it right the first time.

I am contemplating a new tunnel to add to my list but I may just put a new extension on her with a longer heat exchanger. I have a new M-10 sitting under the Vector so that'll be in the Rev as well. Anyone ever think belt drive for a project like this?

Miller, my old crap includes:

From the Vector;

Mountain Mod seat
Boss Seat
Simmons skis
Float fronts
New handlebar set-up
Couple spare hoods
And the rest of it(stock chassis basically) is pending sale to a friend already

And from the REV;

Fresh(depending if you want it or not) SLP motor with SLP exhaust(Wiring, ECM, carbs, fuel pump, clutches, gauges, etc)
C&A Pro Skis
136 Renegade skid with 151 extensions
150 Camo Extreme
Stock HPGX shocks w/stiffer springs off the front end.

Make me a deal bro! And NO, I will not take your old lady!
