VANOC wants to take over Brandywine Parking lot for THREE MONTHS

Just heard this, and cannot believe it!
VANOC wants to control/take over the parking lot for THREE MONTHS during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
During the best months of sledding...
Powder Mountain Snowmobile Club has had to deal with the closure of Callaghan because of the Olympics, and now this...

Hey VANOC, arrange the following words into a well known phrase or saying...

Off Pizz!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Yes that is true and when I ask them to mitigate it by improving the parking at the Rutherford and Hurley they say they have no money, They couldn't even pay to move a couple of piles of gravel at the hurley that are taking up 30% of the parking. The public rec guy at MoTSA is Norbert Greinacher, time to start sending dozens of emails. Maybe they want the Highway plugged with trucks and sleds during the Olympics.

Olympic azzhats. I will be spending the olympics in pemby and will use duffy lake to get there. The s to s will be a nightmare with security checks and the like. The real olympics will be in bridge river valley. 2010 the 30 year hangover starts when the last medal is handed out.

The Rutherford parking was full to the brim today. You guys need to start making some noise if you want anywhere to park next season

We can always park at portage and go through phelix {security will be at 2010} long way but been done many times. wink wink.;) Don't tell the greenies. Route #2 over tenquille to say wazzzzup to the cat crew.

I also heard that there are military personnel in the trees and hills around Callaghan, learning how to ride sleds. They are supposedly going to be protecting the athletes from 'terrorist threats"... We should all sleep better knowing that our Lugers are safe. And Skeleton riders. And ski jumpers...

Its gona be a gong show

We need to notify everyone we know who sleds in the Sea To Sky about this.
I just sent an email to the entire mailing list for my club (BTS), lets flood this guy's inbox.

We would have more rights if we were wildlife.

you can only push people so far...

here is a portion of an email I just received from BTS in reply to my request.

"The closure of Brandy Wine has nothing to do with Norbert, so don't waste your time. It is VANOC, ILMB and the Security people for the Olympics that are behind this. The Pemberton Club, Powder Mountain Snowmobile Club and myself are meeting with all the officials this coming Weds at the Squamish Forest District to see what can be done"

when the price of gas doubled overnight two years ago the truck drivers protested by driving really slow in long rows on major hwys.

what if we got a few dozen trucks doing 20 on the hwy in a long line the day some officials were coming for a visit, a taste of whats to come during the games if they don't start respecting our right to use OUR mountains.

why is tricoune closed now? rutherford is the best place, but it is a lot farther drive than brandywine for those of us from van.

heard from someone at brohm you couldn't park there and saw a sign on the weekend that said no snowmobiles on groomed trails there. (tricouni i mean)

I do not know the area and probably not in the position to do so...but I will anyway.

Possibly the reason for the closing is so security can better scope the perimeter of the Olympic zone. That I can understand.

But if the closing is due to give comfort to the ones attending the Olympics or to lesson traffic for the event I would disagree...and sign the petition.
