Van Am tunnel on edge

Who's done it and how did you like it. I have a 05 800 RMK and I am trying to figure out if I want to put some money into this one or start over. I am looking for a boondocker and I was wondering if the Van Am tunnel made a big difference in handling on the edge. Thanks:beer;

I have a rolling chassis ready to go with a Boondocker tunnel if you're interested:

comes with Boss seat, Fabcraft skid, VE Tunnel, Wildchild steering post, custom risers, etc...

I have had (2), one with a Boondock(race tunnel then) and one with Hillclimb w/edge heat exchangers. Loved em both. Do the drop and roll with it. You can easily gain a 1/2 - 3/4" by getting rid of the drop on the top of the bulkhead.

Huge difference? I dont know, it was alot more "snow mobile"! Seemed like it came up on the snow better and stayed on top. You will get the better boards now though too...

Is it better than buying a new sled? The new sleds handle pretty nice! IMO probally not. Hard to give a definite answer on that.

I have a hillclimb one on my 04 VE, thanks to Brandy!...I think it has made a nice difference. I definitely gained a lot getting rid of the drop on the bulkhead....I have plenty of room in there and am gonna slap in a 2.5 inch track soon. I agree with what outlaw says, stays up on the snow better. If I were to do it over again...I would get the boondock one though.

Over the stock Edge tunnel I notice quite a few PROS to the VE tunnel.

One, the running boards are up higher and I felt I had alot more control in deep trenches.

Two, due to the above I could wait longer to turn out. I'd look back and there would be a 4' deep (or more) trench and I was able to go ahead and turn out, not get stuck.

Three, carving seemed to be quite a bit easier, I think due to #1. Cut a tighter cookier for sure!

Four, I felt like it made me stand up taller, further forward and over the handlebars more and it felt like the Edge wanted this and reacted better to my requests for bustin' moves.

Will it handle anything like the newer Polaris chassis?? HECK NO! LOL But I sure thought mine was "effortless" to ride (I loved it for sure!) until I rode the Dragon....... :rolleyes:

Thanks for the info that is the feedback I was looking for. I rode a buddy's 800 shift the other day and loved it so now i don't know what to do. Loose the edge???? :beer;:beer;
