V-FORCE vs BOYESEN REEDS

Which is better and which will give me the best usable power? Running it on a 2003 900 cat with SLP twins. Also thinking about an airbox mod of some type. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

On the older sleds I think that the VF3's run better. As far as air box mods... rip the thing completely off and put a set of K & N's or KickAss filters directly on the carbs.

in high HP or turbo applications we have seen failures in the vforce reeds, the boyesen seem to hold up better.

I would go with the Boysen's for durability, And I think they have been redesigned with new pedals? Bikeman recommends the new Boysen's with there setup and you don't have to cut the boots, Direct bolt on! If it is an '03 go ahead and put them on, They need it! Later models had the stockers opened up so not as much difference.

I have the VF3's in a couple of my sleds, did I notice a diff? No
If it were my money I would do the Boysen's. As far as air boxes go keep yours and go with the SLP top, you'll lose your tool tray but it's worth it. When I went pods on my 900, the snow would turn to steam on the pipe and freeze the carbs up. Not cool. That was Kickazz Filters with outer wear covers. Now I just tape my vents up if snow will be coming over the hood.

At best on the later sleds '04 - '06 you maybe will get a 3% increase in top end BHP, That will hardly be noticeable on a 150+ BHP sled! But the low to mid will have a more noticeable gain and response? That is if it is jetted right which you will have to do!

Anyone else have any good mods that will help with power? I dont want to go as far as a big bore but all my friends are getting turbos and I need something to keep up. Thanks for all the replys
