V-Force Reed's

The SDI is not the one you want it is for the semi-direct injected motor. And on a side note I have not had good luck with V-force reeds But they have always warrantied the petals. I like Boysen .... But thats Just my personal preference. Also the V-force move the carbs back a Little bit closer to the Jack shaft and creates another issue.

v force 3 reed cages

I can get the VF3 cage set for 280.00. Not sure which set we would need, for the ZX chassis or the Rev chassis!

the boyesen Rage cages would be 270.00 but same chassis ?

Ok so my hawk 600 was very hard to start when it was warm and found that both the reed boots were cracked and were leaking air. The stock ones are junk. So Instead of paying almost 300 bucks for the stock ones I decided to get the V-force reeds. Well I put them on and the Hawk started right up with no problems I imediately could tell a difference.

V-force instructions said it may need some jetting adjustments and I could tell at the crack of the throttle it was bogging so a twist of the pilot screw counter clockwise 1/4 turn seemed to help.

1st question does turning the pilot screw counter clockwise increase fuel or air? I am under the assumption it increases the fuel.

So I go for a test ride and it rips until 3/4 to full throttle and then is bogs. baaaahh. I checked the plugs on this warmer day and its dry toasty brown and looks good. So what I am thinking is its runniong a bit lean.

Should I raise the needle or should I change the Main.

My main is a 350 and the needle is set as low as it can.

Has anyone use V-force reeds? Please give me some hints.

Thanks TonyC

Hey not sure what elevation your riding at but from 4 - 9000 ft. were running 270 mains and seems to be right on on our 04 600 s i would pull your your needle back up one notch and drop the main so you dont burn up on low to mid range end it can get awful lean if you hit some good and cold air when the needles that low in the jet

Do you have the airbox or pods? if you don't have the pods get thembefore you do anything else. Put yor needle back in the middle. warm it up then run it at full throttle for a couple hundred yards. shut down immediately. My guess is your plugs are going to be soaked. 350 jets are good for 0-2000 on a cold day. everything you describe sounds like your running way rich. Sometimes when changing things on an intake such as reeds can change the velocity threw your carbs and draw more fuel in.
As for the pilots, they only run from idle to 1/4 throttle or less.

I have the Pods.

I ran it full throttle as you described and the Plugs were dry and toasty. I will change the needle and let you know how that goes.

I raised the needle two clips from the middle setting to the highest(more rich), the sled runs great except for off the bottom, now the pilot seems a bit rich. Has anyone found an easy way to adjust the pilot, I just cant get my hand in there!
