V Force Reed low end bog

I am looking for suggestions on how to clear up a low end bog on my '09 M8. It had a low end burble and I was told V force reeds would clear it up. After putting them on last week now its much worse. At idle or going down hill it loads up bad. After I get it up on the pipe it clears up and the runs well. Also now instead of one pull to start it takes three with throttle assistance. I have and SLP clutch kit and SLP complete exhaust. I am wondering if it needs more air. I have the stock air intake.

im wondering the same thing, i have an 05 m7 with vforce 3 reeds with a timbersled intake and im not sure if the intake is making the bog or the reeds. hope to see what info people have

Check your fuel pressure. I would bet that it is on the high side of the spec and is rich, especially on the low end. The 05 M7's were horrible about that. One would be on the lean side and be crisp down low, and the next would be on the high side and burble and be unresponsive. The v-force probably amplify the problem at low rpm.

I have V force reeds on my 09 M8 as well but, they seem to be working just fine. However, I do have a SLP preprogramed Power Commander III that I bought the same time I installed the V Force reeds as part of their Performance Enhancement kit.

I have to wonder if perhaps the Power Commander fuel controller is programed to add additional fuel on engine start up to compensate for the increased airflow of the V Force reeds?

That would alsmost make sense to me since you now may have created a lean condition at engine start by adding the reeds.

I'm reaching here.......................but, I'm trying to help. Maybe you need a fuel programmer with your SLP pipe now that you have added the V force reeds?

You have the entire performance edition kit minus the porting, head work, and a fuel controller.

Are you sure its rich and not lean. If it is rich try running the barometer tube up toward the exhaust. (check it first for blockage) Have you put new spark plugs in? New reads should restrict some of the flow compared to older ones, which may cause the start up problem. There is a chance you are over oiling also, you need to make sure the oiler alignment marks are lined up.

I appreciate the responses. I did put in new plugs as I do every year. I also backed the oil pump out one thread prior to installing the reeds. My plugs were horrible looking from last year. I just had the sled completely serviced. The fuel pressure will be my next place to look. I thought for sure I was smelling raw fuel throughout the day, which I've never smelled before. SLP told my mechanic that I needed an air intake kit to compensate for the reeds and overcome the restrictive stock air box.

I have a 2010 M8 and mine is way rich on the bottom. Leaned out the oil pump and no change. Let the sled warm up for a minute or two and go to move it and its all loaded up. Does it when the engine is warm to. It's real irritating. Some do it and some don't. Not sure what the anwser is.

Just My opinion= the timber sled intake sucks.

try the baro tube thing.

At low rpm the intake wont matter.

I would try pulling it over three times or however many before it starts and see what the plugs look like, if its to rich check the fuel rail pressure. What elevation is it giving you problems???

PC3

hook it up to you PC and you will know.

to me it sounds like a lean condition....by freeing up the air path its getting more air and if its still doing it then to me that would be a lean condition, too much air not enough fuel. does it still work to unplug the temp sender to fatten them up? id try that and see what happens. on mine i found that it was lean on the bottom end at home (1200 ft) but at 9000 ft it ran perfect....take air away and it is the same as richening it up. so on mine i fattened it up for home
