Hey guys new to snowest but not the boosted world.
- bought an apex back in 07 started life as an attak. then fully converted over to a mtn. Then a stage 2 MPI s/c when on and never looked back after boost! But just recently sold!

- this time I will be going the turbo route! on a new nytro mtx
-front mount
- 14-16#
- 50/50 all the time. ( is AV gas a good idea? )
- headshim and studs.
- boost-it etc
- M-10 ( 162 or 174? 2.5 or 3? )

So what are some of the checks you guys are normally doing before you take off up the mtn. I know the normals like oil, coolant. But What else are you guys checking with all the extra lines, heat etc. Just dont want to run into any out of this world issues and make this animal last and be as smooth as possible. I know there is probably a few other Threads on this. But none of the them really answered my questions. sorry :face-icon-small-con

Also what Major checks do you do every 500,1000,2000kms lets say!? or what do you guys change out no matter what, at so and so KM's?

Thanks in advance!

Super excited to get back on the saddle! with more boost this time! will post pictures when sled is done!!

I always check or reroute lines that look like they could be on wear spots or places were they could get pinched. Every year or about 2000km I replace the chain and plugs. Depending on who's turbo kit you are running but just keep an eye on the heat shield. I also keep an eye around the head shim looking for coolant or leaks depends on the boost levels you plan on running. Just a few things I look for takes about 20 mins for peace of mind.
Happy ridden!!

162 or 174 depends on your riding style or what you plan to do with it. But I like all types of riding trees, chutes you name it I like it and I went with 162 first year with my build then moved over to a 174 and would never go back. For me 174 out performs in all areas. JMO

i do coolant, oil, chaincase oil, belt, check skis, a-arms, skid for anything loose. grease things up. check air pressure in fox floats. do a overall visual of hoses and wires under the hood. i dont get crazy, but a good visual inspection can catch things before they get bad or worse.

I love the 174 ! Thats what i would do lol. I dont usually lift the hood all season lol. Just add fuel and turn the key !

Thanks for the responses guys! I was thinking the same thing about the 174 but I was also thinking at the sametime it would be to long to put through the tree's!? do you guys perfer the 2.5 or 3" with the 174? ... also does anybody run the 162-3" if so how do you like it?

What are your thoughts on AV gas.. It's alot cheaper then lets say Vp or something similar! I know the stuff about it being "dry" is not all true! so how come so many people are still buying race fuel!? ease of getting it? peace of mind..? Just putting some questions out there! hopefully no wars are started :sorry: !!!

The sled prolly wont see anymore then 16#.. and that might be a few times a season!

Thanks again

I'm not a front mount guy just because when I built my MCX Apex it was sort of the norm. If I was doing a turbo now it would be a water to air with NM's Boost It. He has it figured out ! ( I would also do,a MCX 270)

I use a head shim running 290HP on Shell 91 16-17psi at 6500-7000 ft. I have almost 14,000km on hard Revy km's and have never had a problem. After 7 seasons I have normal compression and 2-3% leak down. How could you ask for anything more lol

I like the 174 and run a Baker (made in Canada) skid with ZBros and Elka shocks ! The skid is more or less perfect for my style of riding. Tried a few others and Bakers (Racers Edge) skid was the only one that held up to the punishment I dished out.

Not sure if you need studs for 14-16 nor Avgas for that matter. Pump premium is fine for that head shim setup as long as you keep boost in check. My Nytro 270 buddies run 17-19psi at 6500-7000 on Shell 91. These are mostly MCX and Impulse setups !

If you want a flawless setup run a MCX or talk to NM about a front mount setup. He is a no bullchit guy and will help you make a great front mount setup ! Look nowhere else !

Tell him Summitboy sent you ! Or not LOL.

Really though, when all the turbo's were first coming on seen lets say. The headers were a big problem and everyone was always cracking them. Some companies not so much.. but it seems like mostly everyone nowadays is getting good time and mileage out of there headers. I am not saying by any means that one kit is better then the other, I think and from what I read is that its just like.. ford over dodge.. chevy or ford. So its more or less what you like and are looking for! But not to butt heads or get off topic lol cause this has been brought up a 100 times! I was doing some research before I picked a front mount system over a rear mount! and both are so close when it comes to throttle response, lag, etc.. So I decide to go front mount.. lol sounds like blahhh. just dont want to start a war lol! as much info and help I can get is for the Better!!

What thickness of headshim is that!? but I would still like running 50/50, just because peace of mind. Plus its only 1.70$ a litre where I get it. so 50/50 is not a big deal! I mostly ride Revy, mcbride!

I am using studs, just because im going as far as a headshim so I figured studs is no extra time really! But what turbos Are they running? MCX must be a 19T?

Also I was talking to NM about his Water to Air setups, just because it only makes sense to me to lower charge temps enough to lower boost by as much as 2-4PSI depending on kit. that means... turbos, headers, motor everything lasts longer! and you make as much HP!! why wouldnt you want to go water to air!!??

By the way the kit is Alpine's !

Thanks!
