Does anyone on here use a pickup with a flatbed on it to go sledding with? My buddy has one, but i only saw him throw his single sled on it once, and its a wacky truck anyways...
reason beeing, me and my buddy down here in college were thinking about just making a wooden flatbed 8x8, for his truck, seeing as he doesnt need his bed in the winter.
benefits- 2 foot lower center of gravit
sleds are out of the wind way more beeing down so much
less body roll on the truck. less leverage.
easeir to load(deck is like 2.5 feet above the ground)
cons- loss of bed. for a few months. its on a mid 90s chevy half ton. the idea was that he knows the weight isnt to much to drive. hes taken it around with more weight in hay in the back. we just wanted to help keep the center of gravity down and make it more user friendly. the deck would also be lighter than the bed, so it would be pretty nice setup, or so it seems in my mind. and use a sort of wall in the front that pops out and is a ramp
