upgrade to a m8 from rev?

Hi,
I have a 06 summit 800 151 and planning to upgrade to either 2010-2011 m8 or pro rmk. I havent ridden either yet though, are they are major upgrade from the old rev?

Well there's no such thing as a 2010 pro. Which means if you're really only looking at 2011 pros, I wouldn't touch them. They STILL hadn't worked out the dragon motors yet and the people I know who had them (not many but still) all had major engine issues.

That said, I think the two chassis are pretty similar, moreso than most polaris die hards would have you believe. The pro stays on edge better than the m series and that's really about it IMO. It's not easier to initiate and it sure as hell isn't as strong or reliable on the big stuff (like motors) as the Ms.

Polaris clutches are a little better, but you can do some things with the m sleds that make that a non-issue.

I wouldn't have too much of a headache buying a newer pro, but 2011......no way.

There are some little things you should do with an m-sled to make them bomber (diamond drive bearing etc) but they're all fairly minor compared to what you have to do to a 2011 pro.

With either one, I'd get some narrower a-arms.

And definitely with either one, you're going to get a handling dream compared to that rev. Former rev owner myself. It's like a different world with either. You won't go wrong in that department. And you'll never have to worry about torn carb boots or hard starts either.

I rode a highly modded 07 M from new until I bought the first year pro. The Pro is leaps and bounds ahead of the M chassis, there just is no comparison. Can't think of a single thing the M does better handling wise than the Pro. That being said I sold my Pro at 2000 miles because everytime I took it out I wondered if this was gonna be the ride I was going to be buying a $5k motor. Went to a holdover 12 Etec and added tmotion rode that until I bought a Terrain Dominator last year, hands down the best sled I have ever owned. The 13-15 motors are much more reliable. But still an arm and a leg if you end up having to buy one. I am now selling the Pro because I can't justify having that much cash sitting in my garage, just have too many other interests. I'm now in search of a 10-11 M, not the best sled on the market but its no wall flower either. My grandson who is 7 started riding last year and I need a sled I can ride on the trail for more than a mile without it wanting to overheat. Parts are plentiful and cheap. Chassis is not as nimble but is much tougher. Will I miss the Pro, yes, is gonna be tough to hang with my buds in the trees when it gets deep but the M just fits what I'm looking for right now better. I guess you have to decide what is most important to you...

I went from a 2004 144 Summit to a 2011 m8 153. IMO a big improvement. Carves powder better, more hp, & side hills better. Only thing it doesnt better than than my old Rev is trail ride. When I bought mine I looked at and rode the 2011 Pro RMK as well. I could have went either way but I liked the cat dealer better. My only gripe with my m8 is it doesn't have and can not be fit with electric start.
