Updating your ECU? Dealers clueless.........

I have an '08-M1000 and just went to the BDX Lite Direct Drive. I want to add electronic reverse and need to get my ecu updated to '09 mapping. I went in to my dealer and ask and they looked at me like I was from another planet. They were saying I would have to buy an '09 ecu. Well, with that being said and me knowing they are idiots and it was a waste of my time to even walk through the door, where do I send this '08 box to get updated? Please don't just say "Arctic Cat". I need to know if there is a website or a specific procedure or address for doing this. Also, how long does it usually take and what does it cost? Thanks for the info!

Too bad Aaron my dealer told me no problem... Sometimes makes you wonder..

Cat really lacks in dealer training, or should I say sled manufactures, not just cat. The dealers around here are just of waste of time and fuel to go to them.

The dealer doesn't need to know anything about it to get it done for you. They just need to send it in for you to Cat to be re-flashed.
There will only be one version available, as Cat will only flash it with the latest version there is. So there aren't any decisions there needing to be made.
It is free, so you should only need to pay for shipping.

I think D&D can do it for you too, but otherwise Cat is the only place. It must be sent in to them by a dealer, as they won't accept it from you on your own.

need a update too.last i heard no cat dealer in central oregon.

Well, Cascade Harley is still the "dealer" if that's what you want to call them. They are just hanging on by a thread to it though! They are in a big pissing match with Arctic Cat so they are not getting much support from them. They are getting a few sleds and can still get parts, but I wouldn't take my worst enemies sled there to get it worked on.................

Good day. Should not cost anything to get the ecu update done. I was told by dealer that any sled that goes to a dealer for any repairs etc must have the updates done ( including exhaust and airbox mod, not just ecu) or the warranty is void. If your sled runs well i would not be too quick to get the updates done. We have 3 stock 08 M1000s other than cans and the 2 with updates do not run as well as the sled without the updates. WOT performance is the same with all 3 sleds but the updated sleds seem to load up a lot more and just not run as well as the sled that has not been updated. Quite a few threads in the past about this subject. If i had known how my sled was going to run after the updates i would not have had the updates done and the same goes for my brothers sled. Just our experience. Have a good one.

in our area there really are no snowmobile dealers, there are a couple of places that sell sleds but thats about as good as it gets. takes a little time to check around and find a place that actually knows how to work on one.
