Just got of the phone with the Forest Service cordinator up there and they did get the groomer up out of the hole to the road, looks like minamal damage, and they are towing it out now. Had to use 2 D-6 cats to get it out, Luckly nothing major wrong that they can see. They did break off the "steering" sticks or something like theat on the way down the hill. Will need to get a few parts to repair.

I'm shocked that they need two D-6's to get it out... I heard that a few people could just drive their little Jeeps and Toyotas up there with their 9k winches and just drag it out....

Jeeps and toyota"s i dont think so

There is no way a jeep or toyota would be able to pull that thing up the steep hill. They tried to get a jeep up the by pass road at greenwater today, air'd down, lockers front and rear and could not make it up. Those groomers weigh about 15,000 lbs. a 3 to 5000 lb rig would not have a chance even if they got up there. there is no place to secure to above the trail for a long ways. It took pure weight and muscle to get it up.

I'll bet the operator had a death grip on the joysticks in that thing as it was going down the hill.

It would'a been a long, uncomfortable walk out that night with your shorts all full of **** (poop);)
I'm glad he's ok and the rig is out, getting fixed.

Does anyone have any pull with DOT in RE to Blewitt parking lot. When I lived in Wenatchee we tried for years to get that lot/snowpark sized a bit bigger. there is sufficient room in the small little field that adjoins the road we park on. My understanding is that it is a DOT issue in that they dont want more sleds there that might be going across the highway.
There reasoning is flawed as not many would ever park on the east side and go back west..there just isnt much of anything from there, except for Navaho Mt. and that is not where you would want to park to get to the Nav. anyway.

Too many times I have seen multiple 37 foot motorhomes with 4 place enclosed trailers camping in the lot with only 2-3 sleds plus a few Subarus with out Snopark passes and you just cant get in. The west side of the lot is typically a cluster F&^% of folks that dont know how to park...you really dont need 15 feet between your vehicle and the next, no mater what type of trailer you may have. Many times I have had to park at Scotty creek and ride the extra 7miles on bumpy as chit stuff....thats a lot of play area gas you have to give up coming in from way down there.

I have seen many times where people have driven in to that snowpark only to be turned away. All road side parking has been shut down years ago along the highway. It amazes me that we cant park in the Swak non-motorized snowpark yet they can park in the Blewitt Motorized and take up spaces that are an endangered species there.

It's an enviromental issue

The Kitittas grooming council has looked into it for years, It's an enviromental thing, drainage, plants, ect, It's a no go, Mostly a forest service issue, not dot. we've tried and gave up on it. Not worth the fight

years ago I when I was a board memeber with Applecountry snowmobile club in Wenatchee I had spoken with a Forest Service Rep and they told me that it was a DOT "roadblock issue" Finger pointing back and forth from Goverentment agencies.Hmmmm that cant be possible???

Idea 2. what about an overflow lot area like where the web cam is at on the pass or on the other side where every winter the signs get changed to Emergency parking only? then they could leave a 40in snow strip on the shoulder edge..I think there is plenty enough room to do that.

I bet your duramax would do it:D

We were able to park under the web cam for along time but no longer,I remember parking along 97. To many riders and skiers, too little room. Just try parking any where near there when the hoglopit is going:mad:
