unregistered firearms

Now that Obama has been elected people are flocking to gun stores to buy guns before he decides to ban guns. Do they not know there telling the government exactly what guns they have by registering them. Now i'm not suggesting we should all have an arsenal of unregistered guns, ( though not a bad idea) but if the government decided to try to outlaw guns, all these registered gun owners will be the first ones unarmed. What do you think?

I own 5 guns and all of them are NOT registered. But I agree with you, I don't understand why people are regestering all of these guns.

So what is the deal here? If you buy from a dealer a hand gun or Automatic gun, you have to go through the registration process right. What if you buy at gun shows? can you buy autos and hand guns unregistered that way?

In Canada we have had to register guns since the 90's. However not everyone has complied. There are still about 70% of the gun owners who refuse to register anything and are willing to go to jail. If you are caught out hunting in a road check with an unregistered gun they will take it, and what ever gun the government does not like they will take that to, from all the "registered" gun owners. A word of advice to you guys......do not register all your firearms, they know how many guns are in the country. And if there are millions of guns not registered, they dam well know they can not pull a bunch of shady crap. In passed history any time any government disarmed their people it was for a reason, and not a good one at all.

if you buy at gun shows from a dealer you will have to have them registered. Those that sale at gun shows are gun dealers.you would have to buy from a private party to not register them..

They won't BAN guns.
They will continue to do what they have always done.
They will take them away a "little" at a time.
They will ban semi-automatic weapons. No-one will really complain because there is no use for them in hunting.
They will ban super high power guns (7mm Mag, 50 cals).

What's the point?

What is the point of buying ammo and guns (registered or unregistered) if you are going to stand by and let someone take them without defending your constitutional rights ? If it comes to that they are not going to look at any list they will just go door to door and search your house. Any gun bought from a dealer since the late 70's or early 80's is registered because the dealers were required to keep records and send them to the government. If you let them take your guns then what's next ?

I know what you are saying they call it "incrementalism", they do not care how long it takes they just take very small bites at a time until their goal is reached, its the same thing they are doing with our riding areas, and like you said they have the news media to back their play now.

The "Majority" of the guns are not registered here in Canada. They never have or never will be and the Government knows that. It took 2 billion dollars of wasted tax payers money to figure that out.

Unless your state specifically calls for registration of your guns, they're not registered per se. The 4473 form that you fill out at the gun store goes into a file cabinet at the store. They know that you bought 'a' gun, but now what other than handgun, rifle, shotgun. They call in for a background check, and get a go ahead or denied or whatever, and thats as far as the communications with the feds go. The gun store has to keep those 4473 forms on file for a set number of years, 6 I think, but I'm not positive. If they need to find out who bought a certain gun, they'll trace it to the dealer that had it, and have them find the form.

Only the communist states have a gun registration database. Just like the states that require the fired case when you buy a new pistol, lot of good that database has done them.

if you buy at gun shows from a dealer you will have to have them registered. Those that sale at gun shows are gun dealers.you would have to buy from a private party to not register them..

Not quite...depends where you are. Here in Washington, the gun shows have both dealers and private parties. The private party deals are legal and cash. That's the end of it. No paper.

Come to think of it, I misplaced every last one of my guns.. I have a great memory, it's just really short.
