Just got back from Union Pass today. My report is as follows:
1. Stayed with Jim Smith at Westview. A real class guy with a great place to stay. My highest, ******, yes, six stars, recommendation.
2. The folks at the Line Shack were great.
3. Most of the employees at Crooked Creek are good folks. However, the previous owner, and one of the current employees, went out of their way to slander the folks in the Crooked Creek Subdivision, including Jim. So, until they change their attitude, and actually decide that the people in the subdivision are their best references, they will be hurting. Again, most of their employees are good people. But the owner needs to fire one, and then make amends with the folks in the subdivision.
4. Larry and John( ?sorry, but I am terrible at names but he is a great person) in the shop are the best. They really try to help you out if there is a problem with your sled. And while it is based on a donation basis, you really feel they earned a good one.
5. Snow: conditions at subdivision are not the best. But get up high, and be prepared for some great stuff. Short tracks, and cross overs, had a very difficult time in places.
6. Tog had more snow, but also much more traffic. In my humble opinion, South is best.
All in all, the trip was great.
Finally, the fee for joining as a premium member, and helping the support this web site, is nothing compared to the price of gas, oil, beer, etc. for a week of riding. I really believe in this site and have gotten much more out of it than the the minimal cost. HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE.
