unfamiliar riding partners

One of my first times out, riding canadian style with a buddy to an open field so we can try to figure out how to turn in pow (rode doubles there then took turns riding). We had no idea what we were doing. I got stuck in the open field, no hill, just amateur hour. These two guys rolled up and gave me tips on how to dig out, then helped me dig out. Taught me ski pulls. Then asked if we were just out trying to learn, said yes, and he introduced me to counter steering. Changed my life that day! haha, pretty funny to think of trying to ride pow and not counter steering, no wonder we had such a hard time laying that thing over:face-icon-small-con.

Anyway, just a little tale about the generally friendly nature of sledders. I've ridden with that guy a few times since then, learned alot.

To answer the OP question, I'd be willing to show someone around my local area, well, most of it:face-icon-small-win. As my username implies though, I usually have a snowboard with me and full intent to use it, which throughs things off a little for most of the guys on here.

GOINBOARDIN
If I knew about it beforehand I wouldn't have a problem with you carving some turns on your board durign a ride.
To me thats kinda like having kids or inexperienced riders along. If I know about it beforehand thats fine. BUT...
If you show up on a ride expecting to go boarding when we're going to be doing alot of boondocking or hillclimbing on an experienced technical ride, ya probably ought to leave it in the trailer or ditch it under a tree cuz its just gonna be a nuisance.

Two of us had a guy hit us up to ride with us one day. No problem, as we don't like the idea of riding alone. This was almost 10 years ago, but he had an old Wedge 400 liquid with a bored out 500 in it with all the lightening tricks of the day on it. He also only had about 8 gallons of fuel. He hung with us pretty well most of the day until he realized we had more fuel than he did. We did send him back down the trail to the truck while we played a bit longer. We guaranteed that we would pick him up on the way back if he ran out by then. He left us a thank you note on the pickup and was gone before we got back. I'd do that again, nice guy, and we all learned something that day.

This Year was my first year of sledding, i had just gotten out of the military and just got a new job and moved 300 miles from were i grew up...anyway if it wasn't for people on this forum i wouldn't have had anyone to ride with, pretty much every time i went it was with people off the forum. And i have new guys on here that i plan on going with this winter soooo THANKS SNOWEST MEMBERS or last winter would have been a bust for me! Great way to meet people!
