UintaMountainRiding

Seems Spencer's sled has been deemed unsellable due to kitty prints.:eek:

BTW:What was Hector's fix???

Wiring harness... I only talked to adam briefly, so I'm not shure if it was chaffed somewhere or what.
Hector and his 4 year warranty... He got a new stator, TPS, and wiring harness covered:eek:
Aparantly the stator checked bad, not sure what led them to the TPS.
I figured the stator was bad as I helped hector check it, but he had the carbed resistances, not EFI, so I was not 100% sure.

BTW:What was Hector's fix???

a couple hundred bucks ain't much to pay for the reassurance that you'll have fun, see lotsa stuff you would have otherwise never found on your own, get help getting unstuck, and making it home safe and alive.. keep in mind that hundreds of ppl visit these mountains on vacation and many of them have never seen snow, let alone ride a snowmobile.. we just gaurantee they'll get home alive.. Our service is available for you experienced guys, but meant for the others who have no clue wtf their doing.. my brother and I have had to go out looking for southerners, who've never seen snow or ridden a snowmobile ever in their lives, so many times its ridiculous (no offense).. were actually doing you experienced guys a favor.. the forest service has been considering putting fees and tollgates up for ALL snowmobilers so they have a registry of everyone on and off the mountain just because of the number of idiots getting lost or stranded out there has gone up dramatically the last few years..and believe me the fees aren't cost effective..so the more people we take out and help them gain knowledge of the territory to where they can venture out alone and make it home safely, the longer the mountain remains "free".. not out to jerk no one, we just want to see the sport flourish for years to come without a bunch of dopey rules and regulations set forth by the feds.. ya feel me?:cool::beer;

Again all based on experience.. we've actually already had a few calls and what we do on the phone is a 15 question quiz which helps us determine the experience level of the riders in the group.. so far all amateurs, people looking to take their family on a joyride next winter.. if you read the statement correctly it's "Whether you just want to go on a scenic tour and check out the scenery that her majesty Mother Nature has provided for us, take your kids to a nice far away place to do some sleigh riding or snowboarding, or go smash some of the most insane hillsides and clear some 100ft gaps on that $30,000 beast thats been in the trailer all summer<-- last statemet implies to experienced riders looking for a new thrill.. sorry so critical, i just don't want any misunderstandings.. were open for all comments and suggestions.. even constructive criticizm:rolleyes::D:beer;

Advertizing the gaurantee to return alive is big. This year we lost some verry experienced riders to the force of nature. I'm sure its worth the $$ for some newbees that want the experiance of the back country. Not bashing your company, good luck with it:). I was refering to SH, as this year i rode with him quite often and a few others up there and got to see what Uintas is got to offer. Great place I got to see, for what I thought was going to be free, but i guess i'm in debt now!!:confused: But to guarentee live ???? I like to think the folks i rode with this year and years past are verry coutious and experianced on every safety level and well trained on avy's and such, but still don't guarantee a safe return. Just the odds are better!!!:beer;:beer; JM .02 :)

if their a buncha newbs, we usually don't get off the trails much.. the hot spot for hillclimbers is double hill. Its usually a pretty stable hill so we like to take ppl who have never been here before up around that area. tons of boondockin, shreddin, climbin, and even jumpin in this little area and we can show the newbs a little bit of everything that snowmobiling has to offer.. we didn't take anyone around that hill this year, however, due to tha fact that before the first snow flew in this regio, we got a really nasty freezing rain that coated EVERYTHING with ice.. the snow fell the next day and caused huga ava probs.. even after the 5th storm when there was 5 feet on the hill, it still slid if you coughed too loud.. things were ugly in the uintas this year.. a good friend of our got killed in an ava as well this year.. its a very tragic thing and i don't wish i on anyone.. many factors fall into place based on our decisions of when and where we take our tourists.. I always take the extra time to monitor the storms at the beginning of the year because the base that actually lays on the surface of the earth will determin how deadly the entire season will be.. i guess you could say, we are very bold.. but in 20 years, everyone we've ridden with has made it home in one piece.. alive is a very vague description, i never said unharmed ;) sometimes, crap heppens :eek::D:beer;

constructive criticism

The first thing that jumped out at me was the banner image on your website. You can't use a photo from another mountain range thats not even in this state. You've been in the uintas for years, don't you have some photos? Also, as far as photos on your website goes, you should get rid of the "guy in the sky" photos with meager snow conditions. You need something that is really going to represent what it's like to ride up there. Deep snow, Beautiful Mountains, nice trails, etc.

Unfortunately it didn't come across as being very professional. Everybody has taken avalanche/CPR/survival courses. I would want some serious avalanche/guide/wilderness-medicine "certifications" if I was going to charge for this service and be responsible for peoples lives.

What kind of legal **** did you have to go through to set this up?

Everyone Starts Somewhere

this is just the beginning.. the website was setup using a FREE online web generator.. Its not meant to be superficial in by no means.. if i had it my way i'd have a single page with a description to get the point out and thats it.. 2nd, the U.S. Forest Service has called upon us numerous times for search and rescue and they encourage our help to get people off the hill before nightfall.. things get pretty ugly after dark in the blizzard season.. simple business license and the certifications we have and are listed on out site is all that summit county required for us to become legit.. long time residency and years of experience are things we hold that idiot entrepreneurs don't even consider past the paper work.. maybe we went a little big on the guarantee of keeping your life, you ride with us once and you'll get our point.. I'll even offer to take every critic that spends days wasting hours on this forum out for a tool through the backcountry and you be the judge.. I just hate getting phone calls at 2 am from people who have rented sleds, had no clue where they were going, and getting either lost or stuck and we have to go locate them in the middle of the night with vague directions as to where they MIGHT be.. its a hard thing to find a dead body and i've found 3 since I was 12 so I'd just rather offer a service to take newbies out for a nice joyride and then come home to a warm cabin.. like I said, if people keep getting lost and dying in these woods, the feds are going to charge each and every one of us a hefty fee just to use the mountain as our playground acorrding to steve rosser of the evanston/north slode U.S. forest service district.. would you pay 200 bucks for a weekend usage of public lands because idiots disappear because lack of experience gets them in trouble? As I said before, this service isn't intended for you "experienced" guys, only for the numerous tourists we get up here every year/every weekend who want to go check out what snowmobiling is all about.. and as for the website, i'm no compputer guru, i've got more important things to focus on like wrenchin on mechanical objects in our shop and makin a couple bucks :D computers are spare time projects for us at Uinta Ventures, the website was just created by me to get the word out.. thanks for the feedback though

Another Note

The Forest Service is already enforcing the parking tag law passed in the county 2 years ago.. you have the option of buying a weekend pass, monthly pass, or a year pass.. we are exempt due to residency but everyone else is required to buy the tag to leave the highway.. when the rangers patrol the parking lots in the winter, the disburse tickets to those not displaying the tag in their windows and fines range from 50-300 bucks!!!!! It'd be ashamed if we were all required to pay a usage fee as well ontop of the already spendy parking tag.. I want our mountain to remain free for all.. the more people we bring home alive, the longer this will hold true.. again this service isn't meant for long time experienced riders, just the tourists who have never ridden or seen snow in their lives..
