Twisted SPS BDX and CPC in Fairview 1/13/09

We got a report of a large avalanche triggered by a sled in Rolfson from last weekend. This was a deadly slide but the guy was able to get away from it.

The snowpack has quieted down a bunch but it still has a poor structure with weak snow near the ground. I have a hard time trusting the big hills this year. It is much different then last year at this time. Last year we had a good strong and deep snowpack at the end of January.

The videos linked here give me chills with numerous people on the slope at the same time and people hanging out in the runnout zone as well. We can avoid numerous deaths by placing only one person on a slope at a time. Be careful out there folks.

This hill is one where I figure the danger is low enough. Yes of course we are always taking risks but This one is a freeway and was well pounded by the time I got there and its not as big as it looks in the vids. This hill slid on me once and the slide was far from being able to hurt me.

Was that Travis as in "skibum" Travis? If so it is a Boondocker 1200.

Yes, that was me. Besides, I don't think OVS would run against Shain anyways. :D LOL! Brooks clutching was spot on and very fast, Freak's M8T was very quick especially on the NOS, and Shain and I traded runs all day. The Twisted 1000 was very fast! CPC had a 1000T but we lost the drive before we could run it. The Skidoo 1200 had the torque of a John Deere and was very smooth. Push Turbo's 1000 was fast and getting faster as the day went on, as he was making clutching changes. BDX's stuff was running great and felt ohh so light. Low 400 pound sleds on boost are something all should experience for sure. Wish we had a longer hill with some snow on it though as those sleds were just getting warmed up on that hill. Just not enough moutain for those types of sleds.
