IMO i would stick with a single pipe, you dont get the hp gains of a twin but a twin has to spin very high to do so, you dont have reprogram electronics with a single and they are much easier to tune. i ride from 3-9 thousand ft. depending on where i go and sled runs good on the same jets,
Trying a new set of twins is always a gamble, either they'll perform as advertised or they'll fall on their face and you'll lose hp.
Same thing with a single but your gains will be less but so will your loss if they it doesn't work.
You also have to be careful with additional aftermarket stuff, just because you add a head or reeds that say +hp doesn't mean your going to gain anything, sometimes those things can lose you hp with pipes.
If your really set on twin pipes "I" would make sure my sled is completely stock call JAWS and do EXACTLY what they say. These motors are getting so touchy I think the 1st thing to do now is add the pipes then try your other things later.
I did the opposite with my rev and the pipes don't work for me but they work on a stocker????
We got rid of the factory electronics, installed another ignition. You are correct we spin this motor at 9600rpm. The power curve is pretty consistant form 8700 to 9200rpm but peak power is at 95 ,9600.
Jaws hasn't released their twin pipes yet, and your sled doesn't have to be stock.
your experience of different twin pipes and a motor package you have is the issue in tuning. the pipes we have are built on our motor.
just want to clearify that it has nothing to do with Jaws.
Ted,
Terra Alps Racing inc.
you have cranks and sh840?
cranks are availible.
the r motor beggs for twins as opposed to the older version doo motor 2000 to 2007 , 800.
thee has been a great deal of building going on with twins for this motor . this should be the year for thm to come out and get some slope testing done .
i know ours are scheduled to be on my sled for the start of our testing season for the high elevation test and set up .
so far there a 9 percent gain on a stock r motor with stock head and tining .
as Ted has mentioned in a big bore they could very well show well and be what we are looking for .
makes sence here any way .
i would wait and see , by dec and for sure by jan you should see a good deal of results on how everyone is making out in the field with them .
on an xp there is a need for a plate to hold the guage assy up as the front air box is going to get thrown out to save it from becoming a puddle of plastic .
with out a doubt thsi motor is worthy of twins as long as we dont end up melting a lot of panels to accompolish it .
