Turny conditions

widowmaker

Hey everybody, I've been lurking on SnoWest for a couple years, but decided its time to join.

I been digging pits and seeing a bad weak layer on Widowmaker Peak that makes me very nervous. Take it easy today (Sunday 2/7/2010) on the back bowls and on Repeat Offender. I think we need some more time to let the snowpack adjust to this new load.

Thank you for your opinion! Glad you decided to speak up and say what's on your mind! Nice first post! :-)

Widowmaker slid out yesterday afternoon thankfully. There was almost nobody back there too.
The snow on the front side was so wet and heavy yesterday that I imagine it would have moved slowly if it went. But carried devastating energy with it.
We heard a lot of "wumphs" and saw a couple on the other side of the highway.

I must have gone and ran off three different groups of people just sitting parked at the bottom of repeat offender , and another at the bottom of widowmaker who said "they were good cuz they had beacons".

soo beacons makes it good. hmmm not sure how good they are when your neck snaps.

I have been on the probe end and i am telling you it is no fun. my hill climbing cut way back after that.

hey

Found some good deep snow in places, but its pretty tracked up in most spots with a hard crust on top. It was snowing like crazy on the way into town. Went up and rode some spots on ridge, but weather stopped that fun. Pretty good light all day except for the end. Tim

The only tree around.

left my sled out there..

rode all day visability was pretty bad the snow was great in the main bowl there was a good 2ft of fresh. when we tried to get out my sled cut out and the storm got bad so we did'nt have time to really mess with it. by that time you could'nt see five feet in front of you so we just left before we couldnt.

if any ones heading out tomorrow and can make it over let me know. i'll be out there but i dont think the shorty will make it. its getting dumped on. my sleds at the bottom of the chute dropping down into the main bowl.
